Electric motors are sooo boring, just like james he always does the boring things on top gear. I know ill hold out on this crap for as long as a can, I want to hear an engine and feel the road. They can figure out something environmentally friendly without getting rid of internal combustion eventually. Why would we want to get rid of something so fun?

You DO know what by the time this car is supposed to be ready (2020) you won't have much petroleum fuel to burn in your car and that full-electric cars (like the cars on The EV Challenge) will be available with the same roar and power like a Mustang GT has now, with the only difference being that they will be environment-friendly?Originally Posted by drive_fast_dail

That "thing" you see there is the body with which it will come riding atop the skateboard-like chassis of the AUTOnomy (the Hy-wire concept) from the factory. The concept behind this is that other bodies (pickup-utility, sports, etc.) will become available for you to change them on your own home.Originally Posted by ddevil0013

Well, at least I see some people really know about cars and do read the news alsoOriginally Posted by EManEX

He's right. I like strange-looking joysticks and all that, lol. I had always wanted to see how this thing moved. I had read lots about this, but had never seen it in action. Thanks for the vid.He said he's afraid of ruining a 5 million quid car... obviously. I wouldn't even dare touch a car worth 8.77 million US$ (10.1 million CA$).
And, blah! All the things I mentioned were mentioned in the video, also.

By the way, if you don't like the car and the car's tech, you are fock'd. This is the future. This is what you're gonna buy in 15-20 years. This is why I'm studying in college.
lolAlso, high-tech doesn't always mean aesthetically nice, but it can mean environmentally nice.
I think he means that prius look. Even if that thing was in two door coupe mode, it would probably have that look.
Yeah not everything high tech has to look good, but it should, why not?
Why make everything look like a freakin dork mobile?
Why not make a fuel cell car that looks like a 7 series or an S2000?
Instead they make them look like furturistic crap, which yuppies love because they breath and eat whats "cool."

Simple aerodynamics. Not complicated ones, just simple. Just take a look at these cars: Toyota Prius (2nd generation, previously mentioned), VW 1-Liter Car, Honda Insight and then look at the Hy-Wire.
See that the designs all look alike? Aerodynamics, my friends.
Prius

1-Liter

Insight

And now the Hy-Wire...

As an old teacher of mine would say "Same ****, different toilet". It's the same design, only much more futuristic, such as you would not judge it by the exterior, but by the technology behind it. If they built, let's say, a Hydrogen-powered 9-3 or a Hydrogen-powered G6 you'd look at it like the whole package, not the technology behind it. See my point?
And I know the 1-Liter is smaller, but just look at the form/shape of it... "truly aerodynamic".
I don't know, maybe they're trying to imitate the style of those flying things, what are they called now? Airplanes is it? (lol)

Nobody said you have to run internal combustion on oil products, there are plenty of other options. You can use hydrogen too, but companys seem to be more set on wasting billions of dollars doing stupid research (before you complain of course this is valuable research but its a waste of reasources for automakers with tight budgets) when they should be worrying about a practical infrastructure of a renewable reasource. Of course fuel cell offers much higher effeciency than internal combustion, but theres still a ton more things to fix before they become practical. When an alternative fuel is really critical i doubt the switch will take long, but theres no incentive to switch to an alternative fuel when it cost so much more than gasoline. All I know is its ridiculous to think that fuel cells are the way to go, everyone thought that about electric battery cars ten years ago.Originally Posted by shroomster

Aaaaand you can now see how stocks fall a couple hundred points for GM in just a matter of seconds. Originally Posted by drive_fast_dail

You are right about this, but do take in fact that the companies are looking at the possibilities right now, trying to see what they can do in the future. It's like skating. If you don't try skating out, you'll never know if you're good at it or you suck at it, like me. But if you suck at it and really wanna learn how to skate, you just gotta keep on practicing. Practice makes perfect. If these companies don't work on things now, when these things are needed it will be perhaps either too late or the resources needed will be tremendously huge (remember, remember, that the cost of life is always rising, which takes up the price of everything... it's mostly the fault of petroleum and some bad governments though).Originally Posted by drive_fast_dail

[Note] Not specifying which government, I'm talking in general. Most countrie's economies are really, really bad because of bad leaders and/or government workers (like here in my country!)
