new car

I was just at the local import shop where I work at on the weekends, and met a guy with a hooked up 2k2 civic...get this he bought it from the dealership with 18"racing hart's,nt-450's, oem body kit, a mini me wing, aem cai, dc twin canister, coilovers, shave emblems, and to top it off the sickest body decal of a star with a tribal patern coming off of it! (don't get me wrong I ain't the kinda guy that loves stickers) but it looked good on his red ex coupe! Being I am in the Army, from california, and living in a millitary town (FT. Bragg NC). I have come acustom to being away from home, and away from the import capitol of the world...but he said he Bought it in Riverside CA. NOW I REALLY MISS HOME! My car came with nothing, and I had to wait 5 days for them to find the right color I wanted in a five speed ex! He waited 2 days and got that! Now for the funny part he didn't now hardly anything about his car! AND HE SAID HE PAID $22,000 or something like that... can you say RSX type S?

I disagree. Even if I buy the mods myself, I am going to have someone else install them. might as well be the dealership. I'll stick to stuff I know like I.C.E. and leave the other mods the professionals. althought I think I could do i/h/e myself. I am not a complete moron when it comes to cars. hehe.

usually when dealers throw in aftermarket parts, they charge an arm and a leg for them. i got my car in July 2001 and there was a silver ex coupe with a sportline drop, momo rims, some exhaust, and the oem kit. it's still sitting there to this day

The parts from dealers are more expensive and they may not give the same gains as aftermarket ones.

My local dealership...(where I'm buying my 2k2 SiR) does cars up the same way. You can buy them brand new on eibach springs, AEM intake, Ractive exhaust, Enkei rims, Wings West body kit....even custom tint. They've even got ZEX bottles if you wanna boost your ride. They've pretty much got a aftermarket shop going on in there.

The good thing about it is, they only charge a 10% mark up from cost. They do this to bring in new, younger customers.......and it's working. I'm getting my Ground Control coilovers and 5zigen rims through them at a considerably good price.

The whole point of customizing a car is to do it the way that you like it. We all look at others cars and say "nice car, but I would have done this different....." You not customizing your own car to you likings, your buying a car that somebody has customized for you, IMO that's not customized. Just my $0.02
