NJ lisence plate laws...anyone know this one?
so im driving up to good ol blue mountain yesterday so i was on 295 about 2 miles from the pennsylvania border. this cop gets me on his radar when i was doing 7 over and since my car is hooked up he turned and got up next to me. he looked at my car then dropped back threw on the lights and pulled me over. so he said he pulled me over because my lisence plate was in the front window and not on the bumper. now i know in nj you have to have the plate somewhere on the front of your car, so i thought this was kinda bs since that morning i was actually talking to 2 cops outside the local wawa and asking them for directions. they looked at my car and didnt say anything, and i also passed about 7 other cops before this one pulled me over. well he only gave me a warning for "unclear plates" (theyre in better view then they would be on the bumper though). so does anyone know if i actually HAVE to have it on the bumper and not in the window, or was it just some cop who didnt like an import invading his section of rt295?
I don't know about NJ but up here in Ontario, a few cops have told me that as long as it is clearly visible from the front of the car it would be ok to have it in the front window. I am looking into that for if I get a new bumper like the Tsunami.

It is illegal to have it on ur window because there are specifics on how how and how low they can be. also it has to be the on farthest most point of the front and farthest most point on the back. so it can be clear. look up the law if u want but thats wat u will find. and those cops that u asked for driections they probably didn't feel like writing u a warning or just didn't really care. some cops do care and some could care less.
Yeah you need the license plate on the front bumper in NJ, I also got pulled over for having my lincense plate in the front window. It's stupid, cops need to understand that we don't want to drill holes into our front kits to put the lincense plate on.
