Question About Difference
my friend has a 99 civic, its silver, and its supposed to be an si, carfax said it was, and made in canada, but the dealers said it was an ex, is their an easy way to tell, without spending money? would it say dohc or sohc anywhere, cuz it doesnt on the top of the engine like most do??
well in canada, a SI is a EX model. also, if you look at the engine, it should be a D-series motor if its still the stock one. it should be a d16y8 if im not mistaken. and yes, a d-series is a SOHC. a SI would have the "DOHC VTEC" sticker on the side too btw.

To straighten things out, its a Canadian Si, which means that its a US EX, and you would buy EX parts for it. Also it should say DOHC VTEC on the black valve cover if its an US SI.
