performance clutch on auto trans
WE'VE GOT A WINNER! AUTO'S DON'T USE CLUTCHES!
Putting a clutch on an auto is like thanking a girl after having sex.
EDIT: No wait, that's like asking her to marry you while you're still screwing her.

<< ok um autos dont use clutches.. lol >>
hah hah course they do =o) there's clutches in things you probably wouldn't even think about..although it's just very common to talk about clutches when you talk MT / AT cuz with MT you're doing the clutching...

What you're thinking of may be the torque converter. You can buy a better torque converter for an automatic transmition, but not a clutch.

Yes, automatic transmissions in honda's have a torque converter instead of a clutch. And from Level Ten, you can either buy a kit to reinforce/strengthen/upgrade your torque-converter and trannie, (you can also change your gear ratios). Or if that's too scarry you can ship your trannie and torque-converter to them, and they'll do it for a little bit more money.
They also have a kit to convert your automatic transmission to a shifttronic, allowing you to control when the transmission shifts and to which gear, and also to keep the transmisssion in gear and lock the torque-converter instead of shifting when it feels like it.

An auto actually has both a torque convertor as well as clutches inside of the tranny housing. How do you think it shifts? I never heard of anyone upgrading their clutches so there probally isn't much out there. You're sol unless you swap the auto for a manual. Big money though.

Did you not read my post?
Simkin, yes I read it.

That part is wrong. They have both clutches and a torque convertor. The torque convertor is not subsituted for a clutch. Each gear within the tranny has a clutch with it.
A/T Breakdown
I'm not like others who like to repeat someone else just cause they got beat to it. Just trying not to confuse anyone.

If an automatic transmition had a clutch like a manual transmition you'de have to replace it every now and then. Have you ever heard of someone replacing their clutch in their automatic transmition? Nope. An automatic transmition has a torque converter which uses high pressure fluid and a turbine to transfer power from the engine to the planetary gears and to the drive axle.
