i saw them trying them out on one of our amphibious tanks down here in Sandiego, looked pretty neat when they were offroading it

It wouldn't work if it were low profile, that polyurethane structure gives where the wheel touches the road to disperse the force, if they were "low profile" then they wouldn't be able to give as much, if you put a wheel on that covered up that structure then your wheel would touch the ground because the tire has that "give".

Well, they can make the polyurethane thicker, hence it becomes stiffer, so it's won't flex so much. That's what they do on normal tires It's just your ride will go to crap, but that's just like normal tires.
