just got car back from dealer (update)
They were swapping a stock head for the junk DH head that was on there before and causing coolant to burn. Took em two days and they charged me around $540 for labor and a couple bolts. I supplied all the parts and a stock head that was cleaned and resurfaced.
hmm well finally got it at 3pm today, not very happy. there is still air in the coolant that didn't get fixed, okay not that bad but we'll see if it still burns coolant. they tightened everything too much and some spark plugs had 25ftlbs others had 1ftlbs. the airbox bolts were so tight i needed a socket wrench to remove, header bolts needed breaker bar and i had to change the header back to stock cause they forgot. They dented my fender near the hood and left oil and coolant all over the grill, engine ground wire hanging in front of the radiator fans, and oil level at the bare minimum so i need more tomorrow. tranny dipstick hanging out of its hole, I spent 3 hrs today in the snow fixing their slop.
Does anyone know if the water noises (coolant going through heater core) is normal? cause its still doing it.

the coolant you hear in the heater core is normal. my car came fromt the factory like that. its not a problem but can be annoying i guess. what happened to your plans to do the head swap yourself?

my dad offered to pay for some of it if i take it in. he didn't think i could do it and didn't want me to waste time and waiting til next summer. anyway i'm really pissed now. they decided to keep my aem cam gear. I just noticed it wasn't in the car. oh boy i am throwing a fit tomorrow. if the install guy can't even install spark plugs and learn how to use a torque wrench, makes me wonder what else he couldn't do.

damn gear, i feel bad for you. Thats why DIY is sometimes the only way to go. If you gotta get it right, you gotta do it yourself. I would talk to the GM of the dealership, screw the mangers!

i really think i could have done the work. i went through all the specs and I had everything laid out how to remove it. I bet most of us could do a better job. And they keep telling me its a 6-8 hr job and meanwhile I remember turboengnr posting that it takes him 2-3 hours. I hate auto mechanics so much. And i also found out from tinman that an auto tranny maybe takes a few hours to pull apart and the shops lie and say its gonna be a week or two and charge $3000. Dam shops are always out to rip you off and in my case, i would be back next summer for a new motor when the ground wire gets jammed in the cooling fan or the spark plug comes out of the hole and overheated the engine, or the oil wasn't high enough. unacceptable.

ya i have 12 items written down. we'll see what happens. oh they charged me for a new battery cover cause i wanted one (old was cracked and coolant stains) but they didn't give me that either. seriously this is the last straw. i am doing my own oil change in the parking lot and everytime I take the used oil to them I will say there is another $30 you lost out on due to your pos mechanics.

lol i wish i took pics because now they might deny it. the car had tons of salt on it tho so i had to spray it off. i wish i took a pic of the big oil fingerprint right where the dent was. stupid me. or take a pic of me holding the ground wire covered in oil. oh yea and there is oil trapped under my kaminari grill that i have to take the bumper off to clean tomorrow.

my airbox is scratched, i think thats all for now. thats all i could find out today. and he played with my turbo timer and used up gas from 1/2 tank down to the gas light coming on. and charged me an extra hour to put the timing cover on, and charged me $20 to order two bolts that i was missing.

you have air trapped in the heater core...you have to get to it and get the air out...u might have to do a full coolant flush again...if not ur gonna have to check for any air leaks in your cylinder head

the funny thing is the service guy was explaining how the guy doing it has so many years experience bla bla and i had to force em to do it because at first they said we can't work on it you replaced the stock exhaust manifold bla. i wanted to phone slap him. just shows how uneducated they are.

well so far i'm the one getting owned. the service guy that i talked to took the day off, the the mechanic called in sick. So i gotta go back monday. now i talked to the service manager, he says he finds me very hard to believe because all his mechanics have been working for a long time, wtf? i start going through my list, he says you should have not fixed anything. oh okay i'll just drive around with low oil, no ground wire, and loose plugs. brilliant! well he can't understand what i'm saying about low oil and dents, so he says make appt with the service and they will fix the problems on your list. i'm like well most of them are fixed already by me. and i'm worried now what other problems there are. so when i go monday i'm gonna tell em not to do the things i fixed. anyway i know as soon as i get it back and check the plug torque they're all gonna be at 30ftlbs and the oil is gonna be overflowing. and i still didn't get my dam cam gear back. oh yea and the service tech i talked to was saying well this is why we don't work on modified cars. wtf?? so because i have a different top portion header (which is stock now) and exhaust, they should leave the oil low? wow makes perfect sense! oh and get this, the mechanic that worked on my car is the best they have!!! hahaha lolol

american honda should solve your problems and maybe even give you monetary reimbursement. if not, i'd raise hell in japan.
