ya too bad nothing can really be done. basically i'm taking it back to have them tighten the belts. everything else is fixed cause the car wasn't in driving condition when i got it back. can you imagine if i knew nothing about cars, left the hood closed, and just drove it like normal? bye bye engine.

grab the receipt from when you took it in and mark off on what was and wasn't done....explain what also happened...the fact that if you didn't know about your vehicle...ask them what would have happened (theoretical type)....
explain you're very dis-satisfied and will not be considering purcahsing from Honda in the future and will tell everyone you know to not buy from Honda....etc....
take pics of what is still viable and in your favor...

thanks. now i am scared to take it in again because the same guy is gonna be working on it (their policy). I think i'm gonna call and say i can't come. then tuesday im flying to reno for a few weeks. i just don't want any trouble when i get it back monday and everything they refixed is screwed up again. i'm still shocked how this happened. i opened the hood expecting to tighten the throttle cable again. instead i find a mess.

okay i filed a huge report with american honda with all the issues and the service manager calling me a liar. they are gonna have someone look at it. i made it sound like the mechanics there are a bunch of monkeys, and not smart ones either.

now i am scared about the cam rocker bolts. the machine shop barely tightened them (just enough to hold it down) cause there were a few bolts missing. i really think i'm gonna have to open the valve cover and check that the bolts are torqued down and that all the bolts are there. otherwise its gonna be a disaster. i called the other shop i go to and they will tighten the belts free. so i won't have to go back to the dealer except to complain more and get my aem gear. i really don't want them near my car again.

Let everything just blow up then sue them.

I'm sorry, but I have no respect for dealership mechanics unless they have been there for over 20 years. I cannot justify giving someone who barely graduated high school $1000 to do work on my car which I can do just as good if not better if I had the right tools and resources.

This is why I only take my car to the shop for inspections. You simply cant trust anyone to take as much pride in your car as you.

can you trust them to even inspect your car? most of the time they drive it back to the shop and then say everything's fine.

the guy who worked on my car has been there over 20yrs and is their best mechanic thats what makes it so bad. the service guy says everyone there has been working for a long time which is why he doesn't believe me. and hes trying to tell me they all treat the cars coming in like their own. I need to find that repair guy from seinfeld that stole Jerrys car so he can take care of it haha.

lol well i'm just gonna have to check the cams and valve rocker bolts when i get back from home. no way am i taking it back to dealer. and i'm finding another place for oil change. what should i do as far as getting stuff from them like extra money? they charged me an extra hour of labor to put the timing covers on even tho they would have had to do it anyway, then they didn't put stock header on, and kept my extra oil and coolant instead of pouring it in the car. then there's the dent which i don't think is fixable where it is.

well the problem is I did the work myself. that was a bad thing to do apparently to the manager. i was supposed to just drive it with loose plugs, no ground wire, and low oil. now they are offering to let the same retard mechanic fix the things that i already fixed.

damn man you have some bad luck. 1/2 tank to empty is about 150miles giving them a few easy. so not only did they f up your car but they took it for a very long joyride probably winding out every gear to redline before shifting. i would not let those guys ever touch my car again. i would take it to a higher authority and bill them for their shatty work. in fact if you know someone at another shop ask them to write up a reciept for you showing all the work you did to fix their f ups. this is a ahiry situation. i would be raising hell too for them stealing my cam gear. WOW man i would be irate and when i am that mad someones getting hurt!!!

we should all stop complaining about how much dealers charge to do work on our cars. when you break down the cost that the mechanic gets... they're only getting probably $15-20 an hour while the rest goes to the dealership for things such as insurance, which is highly expensive. dealerships always charge labor based on a "book" of some sort. this gives the "standard" amount of time it takes to complete a job, multiplied by their hourly rate. so the book may say it takes half an hour to do an oil change, but even though the mechanic can do it in 15 minutes, you still get charged for the full half hour.

ya they do. the thing is i didn't examine it cause i was in a hurry and assumed everything was fine. well my plan is to go back monday with a whole list of the parts they scratched or damaged, the money for dent repair, at least the $70 back for installing timing covers that are part of the original job estimate, and maybe more for taking it to another real shop so they can verify the work.

yea repair shops are crooks. they charge $3000+ for rebuilding auto tranny where they should only charge $500 for the few hours of work they do. Oil change take maybe 5-10 mins. they charge $50 for a tranny fluid change even tho its easier to do than oil change. lets face it, most of these shops want money. they don't care about all the cars that come in. and i'm starting to think alot of this was done on purpose. i drive up in a hot car with shining paint and clean engine bay, i get it back with oil everywhere and scratched up wire cover and airbox. i think someone was jealous and somehow thought i was a complete idiot who wouldn't check anything. the three biggest problems seem alot like sabotage.

well its true that no one will care more for the car than its owner. seriously, in this day in age, if you dont know just the basics of auto repair than you're pretty much at the mercy of dealerships/shops.

what did the dealer say about your 'stolen' cam gear anyways?

I rather have some 20 year old kid working on my car at a dealership than a dude who has 20 years of experience.....

The 20 year old kid has something to prove to his managers by doing a good job and he will try. The d!ckhead with 20 years of experience is sick of working on cheap Hondas all his life and just wants to get the job done and move on as fast as he can.

99% of them time dealerships work on cars who are owned by oblvious morons and their mistakes/wrong doings do not get called out. When they run into someone like you.... they don't know what to say because they have never been called out on being dipshits.

Good luck.

If you have worked back in the dealership garage like I have, you would realize how ridiculous that sounds. I have seen all of the younger mechanics do something at least once a week with someones car such as forgetting to put oil back in the car, revving up someones modded H22 prelude to the rev limiter and holding it, forgetting to tighten a fuel line in which the engine bay caught fire a few hours after it left the shop and the countless burnouts... I have never seen the older guys abuse any cars once.
