LX vs. SE?
LX vs. SE?
I'm going to buy a used 2004 civic but I can't find any info on specifications for the SE. How does the SE differ from the LX? Seems similar...is there a list of specs anywhere so I can compare?
Thank you,

EX basically
The SE or special edition, is nothing more than an overpriced EX with wheels and badging.
Other than that
The EX and LX differ in that the LX uses a slightly weaker engine with no vtec and doesn't have a sunroof. There are more differences but those are the ones that i think truly matter. The option of alloy wheels instead of hubbies is available if you go with 2004 or up
Powerwise its really not all that much of a difference but hey, if you're buying a civic to go fast I'd have your head checked.
anyways hope that clears up any questions you had.

It is priced 300.00 less than the 2004 LX at the same dealer.
Mine's an SE (DX Special Edition) but it's 2005. It doesn't have the stuff mentioned above, just air conditioning, single disc CD player (I guess), remote keyless entry and that's pretty much it.
Ya, the dealership was repping it like it was some awesome special edition car with the badge on the back. But I was curious why there wasn't a model badge on the back so I did a Carfax on the VIN and it came up as a DX. When I asked the dealer, he did some research and said it just gives it remote entry, A/C and CD player. I've since replaced the keyless entry and CD player with aftermarket so essentially my special edition is A/C!
No, I live in Canada. The VIN starts with a 1 because it was made in the US but as far as I know all the coupes are made in the US. But it's badged with Canadian badging and we don't have the VP.
I didnt know they made a DX SE, sounds like they threw the badge on. to my understanding in the states, they make the LX-SE and the EX-SE, both have the same options as far as the SE part of it goes, then they just differentiate like a standard LX, EX would go. 15" alloy, spoiler, mp3 deck and leather wrap steering wheel (which is very nice to have)
There is an SE badged Civic in Canada.
It's for 2005 only I think, I own a SE.
It's a lower model than LX, it doesn't come with power windows, and doesn't come with color matching door handles and mirrors. Plus the hub caps they give you are totally fugly.

OK thanks for all the good feedback.
Personally, I think it's weird that Honda has these SE models, and there doesn't seem to be any consistency of the specs on them. I have a 2001 LX now, but I'm trading in for lower km and considered the used SE on the lot since it only had 30,000km on it. I don't care about matching door handles and that aesthetic stuff too much, and I can do without power windows too. As long as it has A/C and at least 15 inch wheels i'm good. There doesn't seem to be anything "special" about them that's for sure.
