Viper's right about the sunroof thing. I had my sun roof tilted up in light rain and i never got wet. I even had it tilted up when the car was parked and it rained and no water got inside.

Yeah, my drivers door is poorly designed as well. When I opened it a bunch of snow fell inside onto my seat. Oh wait, thats because it had just snowed and I was an idiot for not clearing it off, or expecting the snow to fall in.
Seriously, don't blame the design. Blame the user. The sales guy should have known that there would be water on top if it had just rained. Clearly the pano roof is meant for very nice weather. The design could be better, but at least they tried something new. I've heard there are lots of problems with this roof, but no reason to go around bashing GM engineers and cars in general. Not all of the G6's have the panoramic roof. Its an option. You don't like it. You don't order it. Simple as that.

i hate to tell you this, but Toyota is just as stupid, their dual panoramic sunroof not only got me wet in the front but also the people in the back! So its not just GM, and i think its a very interesting idea too!

Actually it has more to do with philosophy than American engineering when it comes to cars dying in five years (the sunroof, however, was just horrible engineering =P)
Products are usually deliberately made to break after a certain number of years, because they want people to keep buying more. Imagine if cars lasted 20-30 years--car companies would make a lot less money. Hence, they do stress tests 'n such to make sure they break in 4-5 years. Why do you think they break right after you finish your payments?
Of course, it's a stupid philosophy, as people caught on and now stick with Honda/Toyota. US automakers thought they could get away by making cheaper products at lower cost, but it came back at them. GM cutting jobs comes as no surprise.
In a non-car example, Sony has been feeling the blows of their stupid tricks. Aside from TVs, many of their products (esp. Walkmans) are now outsourced to Malaysia and have considerably lower quality--but they thought they could get away with that and still charge the same premium price. Hence their electronics division has been losing money for years, and their games division is the only thing keeping them afloat.

All of you really need to get out more and expand your mind and stop thinking inside the Honda circle. Yes they are good cars but definitely not the best. Quit the American bashing and grow up

look all (well, most) of you say GM sucks because u either havent owned one or u hear rumors or what not. my family has been a chevy family for a long time and we have had cars left and right.....when i got my 7th gen i made them look on how much more quality a foreign vehicle has......but GM,Ford,DODGE......they try or have tried to make compacts but do not succed because people prefer hondas......now when it comes to V8's u cant compare ANY foreign vehicle to that........just my .02

Ya hondas are very well made cars. The only problem is that if you have enough sense to drive a car then you should have enough sense to not open the sunroof with water on the roof of the car. Its hard for me to believe that an experienced car salesman did that but if he did...hes retarded lol.

GM G6 with para-roof does not represent every american car, the thread starter did get water on him and did dislike that specific design on the current G6.
Maybe you should stop thinking that memebers of this site only think inside of Honda circle.
