gearing for 7th gen

searching on this site suck sometimes....
anyways, i have been trying to find someone who has changed the fd ratio for a 7th gen, or at least someone who knows more about it than me (dont know much in this area) what is the gearing on a 2001 dx 5spd? and can it be changed to improve accel. and make my car more fun w/o buying tiny little wheels and tires? just thinking about it and wondering how much it would cost/do etc.

thanks ya'll

drivetrain section...yea it can be changed. bigger gears and faster acceleration but your top speed would be lower in each gear i beleive, i don't know how much it would cost though. ask s2kman. he had his gearing changed in his s2k

thanks for the link, i should have thought of that
i see the ex has a higher fd... 4.41 instead of my 4.11......

so the possibilities are there, there must be something easier than a tranny swap though...

Sick Cycle is an unknown quantity at this point
if you want to build a good n/a tranny ... put your 1st gear assembly into an ex tranny ...

ex's have a longer 1st gear, but more aggressive final drive.

while you're in there, put an aftermarket clutch and super light flywheel in there too.

wow, ex tranny only $250-500, thats not too bad actually, how much with an install though.... how much work does a project like this entail?

also, Sick Cycle do you really know 1st from my gearbox can fit in an ex tranmission? or are you just throwing out possibilities

lets not forget hondas motto: the power of dreams. yea you could fit it. but why mess with it, just take the ex tranny. if you really want to screw with one gear you might as well change all of them.

Can you just swap the diff only ? put the 4.41 in place of the 4.11...or will it be more aggressive than the whole ex tranny? I don't know each indiviadual gear ratio, so can't tell...

I'm sure it'll fit. I don't see not

yeah, swapping the 4.4 in place of the 4.1 would work too.
