What are you going to be driving in 4 years?
Considering I drove an 88 Acura Legend when I was in college (graduated 2001), my Civic is a dream ride. My wallet likes it and I like it's sporty handling, even with the stock suspension.
It seems a lot of you guys in college are looking forward to fancy nameplates after graduation. But I think you guys are lucky to be able to afford a 7th gen Civic while in school. It's a nice car whether you're on a budget or not.
While I agree with the person who said its financially sound to keep a car as long as you can (as it is a depreciating asset), MBA grad school plans will necessitate keeping my Civic for 3-4 years. After that will depend on what pay I could command with a more advanced degree. All of your dream rides, G35, Porsche 911, Accord V6, etc.. seem tempting. hhmmmmm...

Sweet rides
I’m surprised at how many people want really small cars. An s2000, miata, G35...Those would be great, but wouldn’t it be so much easier to get around in a WRX? I’m just throwing the question out....Id love to have an s2000 when i graduate, but I think its so much more practical (in Canada anyway) to have AWD, 4 doors, and a real trunk. Many of you would keep your vic for practicality, and have something for a weekend car...Which makes perfect sense! but for me, I think I’ll take an all in one package.
I'll graduate in 4 yrs (Civil Engineer) I'm gonna buy or lease a ridgeline and get a swap and turbo on my 7thgen, I love the damn civic so much I'll never sell it.. I'll need the ridgeline to drive into construction sites and to tow the civic to track and races/shows + it'll be a good family car + it'll be good for Canadian winters.

You know what Im saying though.... Lets take an STI, because thats a very good performer... Its got most of the practical features my civic does, but its got the performance. In an s2000, you'd get one of the funnest (for lack of better words) cars on the road, but you'd lose the practicality of a larger vehical. I dont want to be driving an SUV quite yet! But I think in todays world, unless you have another car for running erronds ect. It would be difficult to get away owning a smaller 2 seater sports car. All in one!

But I know people with rx-8's...and they are not very practical
Did you consider an evo? or sti? or the like, before you bought the s2k or the rx-8?
You know I really thought about them, and even test drove them both.
But I live in the city. Stop and go traffic is nuts. I don't NEED AWD, although it is nice, and I rarely get opportunities to let my cars stretch their legs.
The EVO and STi's interiors were so god awful, and their outlandish styling really turned me off. I may be getting old, but at 25, I need to drive a car that people will take me seriously in. Could you imagine pulling up to a restaurant where you're having a business meeting, and getting out of an EVO? So I chose cars that appear relatively mature, while still being able to have the fun I want to with them...plus me and rotaries go way back...
As for the S2K, I've liked the car since the spypics back in 98 so it was an inevitability, plus I needed a second vehicle so that I could stop driving a certain someone around...

HAHAHA very true, although I really haven't taken much to protect it other than made it look like a RS/LS/GS model. I took any and all VTEC symbols off and have steel rims on it, the only way to know it is a GS-R without looking under the hood is by noticing the 8,200 RPM redline, but I'm guessing not many people will notice that from the outside. Beside right now, they would have to put the suspension back together
Really though, I would just rather have someone steal the entire car than strip it and I have to put everything back together.

i'm 17 and this is my senior year, i am deciding between the 06 si and a 06 xterra for my graduation present. i am leaning toward the xterra, gonna put some mud tires, lift kit, light bar, etc. on it.
I just burnt my tongue
