The throttle is very weird to me too. Drive by throttle wire.

Everytime I was shifting aggressively the car would randomly rev up as I was switch gears (clutch in and foot off the gas pedal). At first I thought it was just me because I wasn't used to the new gas pedal design (organ style... where's it's mounted to the floor like BMW's) but I tested it out like 20 times and everytime it would randomly rev up.

Oh sorry! Didn't see you were in Canada. I'm so jealous though you get EX Alloys on LX and black interior on all the EX Coupes.

Are you sure that has i-vtec? you said you took out an lx, which now have no vtec. The pic of the motor did not say i-vtec anywhere, maybe that will explain the sluggishness

vtec = marketing ploy. Don't think it makes much of a difference. People often mistake the higher RPM torque band for "vtec" when it's just the nature of Honda's engines. I've never felt the "vtec kick in" even with B18 motors.

I'm not digging the interior or exterior. Blargh. Like my 2k2 civic.

The DX, LX, and EX all get the same motor - 1.8L 16valve SOHC i-VTEC 140hp

Quote: Your Honda dealership seems a little weird. They have an Atomic Blue DX which according to Hondacars.com doesn't exist and EX wheels on an LX.
I think it might be differences between US and Canadian models, but that's just a guess.

Untrue, my last car was a 2000 Prelude, H22 VTEC motor. When that mother kicked in, it threw you back in your seat. It made a BIG difference in that 200 HP motor. It makes little or no difference in our 115/127HP motors.

i think you could only feel the vtec kick only in the dohc vtec systems such as the ones in "tegs, nsx, s2ks and ludes". there is still a slight kick in the d17 but its very mild but you know its running cuz the engine roar changes note. the d17's vtec system was also designed not to kick i think.

I just stopped by with my friend yesterday to look at one and we didnt even stop to get a closer look. In person the car just seems ugly compared to 7thgens, the hood and trunk are too short. But the new features are nice.

exaddurate much??!!? it's just Vtec, not nitrous. i doubt it "threw" you into the seat. "ahh...my hands are slipping off the steering wheel do to the g-forces of Vtec.." i also like how generous you are with the power ratings....try more like 75/82 hp motors. those window sticker ratings are at the crank, not the wheels. helps to boost sales. (i guess) they realy should be truthfull.....stupid sales department....

The only VTEC Honda makes that will actually 'throw you back' is mostly on their 2-wheeled vehicles ..or maybe an S2000...

i thought the reason people could feel the vtec more on the older reasons is because the torque peak came when you hit vtec. I think i-Vtec and the VTC delievers most of the cars torque earlier in the rpm range so you can't feel the change over as much because you already have most of the torque in the earlier rpm. If you want the most power out of your car, you probably don't want jumps in torque anyway.

the whole point of the vtec system is to smoothen out the power curve so there is no dip or jump.
