My husband owns a WRX and I own a 2.5.
The quality of the line of Impreza's is very nice. I'm assuming you don't have any figures yet from insurance (or perhaps I didn't read carefully enough), but it shouldn't be too bad. My husband's rate actually dropped going from the Civic to the WRX. It's 4 doors, so that's a plus for you.
The price is about right, and with the warranty that's even better.
Hopefully you already know how expensive your gas is going to be. It can only take Premium gas. And with the prices these days you're going to get raped coming from a Civic (or whatever it is you drive). My husband has to fill up every 3 days because of his commute to and from work. His WRX doesn't get the best mileage. And spending almost $40 a tank, that's about $120 a WEEK. He does a lot of driving. And if you do too, please take that into consideration!!
Otherwise, good luck with the car!! NASIOC is an awesome awesome awesome place to research everything Subaru. The meets are insane, too!!

Sounds like a great deal however you look at it, but...why does this guy wants to get rid of a practically new STi and at that price? He can't afford payments anymore, doesn't like the car?? Something's cheesy here...

Edmunds did a comparison test between the gto and sti.
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=105773
The sti is basically the gto for people under 30. On there testing the sti was only tenth of a second slower then the GTO even though it has 100 more horses.
I kinda like the idea the sti has a boxster engine.

ask about the ecu's age. I guess you can have that checked at the dealership. If it doesn't have the update then get it done if you buy it. They reconfigure the a/f so it doesn't detonate....that was a problem with early 04 models. Other that that you should be fine. The motor is broken in, go beat it! Oh yeah....the GTO is nothing....doesn't even compare to an STi...trust me.

geeze everyone is a spelling ****. But i agree with the posts from the edmunds forums. The comparison isn't really fair. A mustang and gto would be a better comparison. The gto and the sti appeal to different crowds.
