Taking advantage of the warranty
Taking advantage of the warranty
I've had my 04 civic for about a year now, and the warranty is about to expire as i have 32000 miles on it. I've started a new job recently that has me driving a lot, and frequently i hear some very worrisome sounds when shifting into 1st and reverse.... what kind of maintance is offered through honda's standard warranty?
thanks
thanks
I spend way too much time on this website

if you wan to really take advantage of your warrenty.. drain all the oil out of the engine and remove tranny fluid then go lay some rubber to the pavement... after about 1 minute your enginetranny will be toast, refill oil and tranny fluid and flat bed the car to honda and bring a lawer and lie your *** off saying the car is a POS and you need a new drivetrain...
if this works 100,000,000,000 rep points to me

depends. some dealerships will some won't. however, there is a LOT more to the tranny than just a clutch. lol. you made it sound like they wouldn't cover the entire transmission.

My dad had a clutch covered under warranty. It depends if they think you abused the car or not. If it is simply a fualty part that breaks befoer the 36k 3 year warrenty, they HAVE to fix it for free (accept the battery, brake pads and tires), unless they can prove you abused or neglected (improper maintance) the car. When they take the clutch off they can see if you burned it or it simply fell apart. Synchro generally are covered under warrenty, unless agian they can prove you abused the car, but syncros are far hard to prove that you abused.

grinding gears and skip shifting can put more wear and tear on the synchros.
the 6 speed honda tranny is notorious for synchro/gear failure when people skip shift.

they will warranty the burnt out clutch if they do not feel you've abused it or driven it improperly. i know plenty people who had a clutch burn out early and get it replaced under warranty.
