Here it is Si model will be 21,000 to 24,000 depending if you get navigation. It will have a 2.0 liter SOHC i-Vtec motor with 197-205 horse power. It has 139lbs of torque at 7800 rpms. The EX,Lx,DX will have a 1.8 liter SOHC V-tec with a 140 horse power. The only new motor that they will be releasing will be a Dohc i-Vtevc 1.3 liter motor for the hybrid civic.
second, the price, maybe, but doubtful. why? because for that price people can get an 05 type S, and they would be pitting the cars against each other. hello, prelude and integra? thanks for trying though.
lastly, the ONLY new motor is the 1.3 liter motor for the hybrid civic? Ok then what do you call the R18 1.8 liter engine going into the civic? and if your friend is right and it's a 2.0 liter SINGLE OHC engine in the Si, then that is ALSO a new engine, because the only 2.0 liter engines honda currently has are all DOHC.
again, not to mention the fact that 200hp out of an SOHC would be unlikely. and at 7800rpm peak power, meaning it probably revs to at least 8000. honda isn't going to spin an SOHC engine that high. (due to mechanical limitations)
and why didn't your friend tell you that navi would be available for the EX? Oh I know why. cuz he's full of sh*t.
do you have your friend's number? i'd like to call him next time I need to break in a toilet since he's so full of sh*t.

no he's not a dumbass. he just needs to stop listening to his friend who is filling his head with crap. when your friend, the car salesman, was telling you this, were his lips moving?
The tinting on the center of the windshield, I think they must have gotten that idea from me. I have been doing that with a section of static cling tinting strip, and when the dealer saw it they probably forwarded the idea to HQ.
just because you think you now everything doesnt mean that u know everything. I would listen to him before I would listen to any of you people on this site. When I get the sales person training brochure on all the new civics maybe just maybe then you will all shut your mouths and just realize that you were wrong. I also meant to say that the only DOHC motor that they are comming out with will be for the hybrid.

you sure he's allowed to release the specs like that? Don't they have to sign ND agreements until the company officially releases the specs? You might want to ask your friend if its ok to disclose his name like that. Honda corporate might go after him, for violating ND agreements.

So he can call your friend and have a chat with him at his leisure. Honda's official Press Release also states that the motor is the 1.8 liter i-VTEC motor. The only motor they produce in this capacity is the K20. There's no way they developed yet another engine past teh K-series, as this, for several years, and several to come, is described as their engine for the future. The replacement for the B-series. Sorry, not happening. You're young and naive, it's okay, we all are at some point. The Si prototype they've been carrying to auto shows also has the K20 in it, just so you know.
Oh, and just so your friend knows, the full specs aren't being erleased until September 1, 2005. But more info can be found at
http://sema.honda.com/2006civic/index.aspx
I'm thinking it's the following statement where your friend may be confused, as this is what's said in all of their press releases regarding the motor:
Use of the valve timing control system results in off-the-line acceleration performance at low rpm equivalent to that of a 2.0-liter engine, and efficiency that is up to 6 percent better than the current 1.7-liter Civic engine, making it one of the world's most efficient 1.8-liter engine designs. During cruising, the new engine achieves particularly high fuel economy, on a par with that of a 1.5-liter engine.
Supposedly, all of the civics will recieve a 1.8 liter i-VTEC, with the Si getting the beefier version.
Going further, I'll cut and paste, along with provide links to, a few articles.

Honda Civic Si Concept Makes World Debut at Chicago Auto Show
200HP Civic Si Concept points at future direction for new 2006 Civic Si Coupe
Chicago February 10, 2005 -- The Civic Si Concept, making its world debut today at the Chicago Auto Show, provides a strong indication of the styling and performance direction for an all-new production Civic Si Coupe scheduled to debut later this year.
The production Civic Si Coupe will serve as the performance leader for a completely redesigned 2006 model Civic lineup that will feature more emotional styling, added performance and the latest generation of "intelligent" i-VTEC engine technology. The 2006 Civic lineup, launching this fall, will include a 4-door Sedan, a 2-door Coupe and Si Coupe, an even more fuel efficient Civic Hybrid and a natural-gas powered Civic GX.
The Civic Si Concept celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Civic Si legacy in the U.S. and builds on its performance heritage with a 200-horsepower, 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC engine with an 8,000 rpm red line, mated to a close ratio 6-speed manual transmission. Helping to put all that power to the ground is a helical-type limited slip differential for improved launch traction and cornering performance.
Other performance features of the Civic Si Concept include 18-inch cast aluminum wheels, 225/40R18 high performance tires and 4-wheel disc brakes with large cross-drilled brake rotors and 4-piston Brembo calipers.
"The 2006 Civic Si Coupe will be the most powerful, fastest and fun-to-drive Si we've ever put on the street, and the Civic Si Concept sets the direction in terms of its styling, package and performance," said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda. "It's part of a new family of Civic vehicles that build on the already class-leading values of the Civic in terms of safety, styling, performance and fuel efficiency."
Designed as an "Advanced Personal Compact," the Civic Si Concept incorporates a sweeping roofline and ultra-fast windshield rake that highlights the vehicle's advanced one-motion profile, low and wide stance, and superior aerodynamic performance. The long trunk deck, with its frontward sloping bumper, accents the forward motion conveyed by the overall vehicle shape. Wheel openings have been optimized to minimize the gap between the tire and the body. Special aerodynamic features include a full front and side aero kit, rear deck wing and a lower rear bumper diffuser with an integrated center exhaust system.
The 2006 Civic Si Coupe will be the sixth generation Si, which first appeared as a three-door hatchback in 1986 with subsequent Civic Si models appearing in 1989, 1992, 1999 and 2002. The production Si will make its world debut at the 2005 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in November. The Civic Si Concept was designed at Honda R&D America's Los Angeles design center.

2005 Chicago Auto Show - Civic Si Concept debut Remarks for John Mendel
Chicago, IL February 10, 2005 -- Good morning and thank you for joining us here today. My name is John Mendel and I'm the new guy. This is my first time to stand in front of you representing Honda and I'm excited to be here and to share with you some very exciting news about the future of Honda.
Let me start by talking a little about our overall sales and product picture. Last year, Honda posted its ninth consecutive year of record sales and launched two new models - an all-new Odyssey minivan and the Accord Hybrid. I'm pleased to report that both models are off to a great start.
Sales of the new Odyssey are up 20 percent since October, and our customers are telling us how much they love the new features, styling and luxury-sedan like performance of the new Odyssey.
The Accord hybrid, our third hybrid model is selling as fast as we can make them. Sales of our hybrids were up 18 percent last year and we expect to nearly double those results in 2005.
Speaking of 2005, we expect to be every bit as competitive as 2004. We're looking forward to the continued success of our new car and truck models to deliver another record year for Honda, with sales around 1.25 million units.
Two models that will play a critical role in delivering these results for 2005 are the all-new Ridgeline truck and a completely new Civic. I hope that some of you saw the debut of our Ridgeline advertising at the Superbowl on Sunday. For those of you who missed it, here's an ad called "Buckles" that speaks to the unique capabilities and innovation of Honda's new truck.
The Ridgeline goes on sale March 1 and judging by the reaction from our dealers and customers, we're confident we can hit our target of 50,000 units in the first 12 months of sales.
And while we continue to grow our truck sales, we remain committed to leadership on the car side of the business. To that end, we're looking forward to the launch of an all-new, completely re-engineered Civic lineup beginning with the introduction of a new 4-door sedan and 2-coupe this fall. You know... since its introduction in 1973, the Civic has exemplified the core attributes of all Honda products: great value, great ergonomics, fun-to-drive character and of course world-class durability, quality and reliability.
Civic has also led the way on environmental innovation including the first car to meet California's Low Emissions and Ultra-Low Emissions standards. And the first truly mainstream gas-electric hybrid vehicle, the Civic Hybrid. The Civic has also led the industry in safety. The current model Coupe is the first and only compact class car to earn a five star/five-star rating in both frontal and side impact testing.
Importantly, the Civic has always struck a balance between the needs of the customer and the needs of society. And it's done so while appealing to a wide variety of customers, from mainstream buyers attracted to its thoughtful design, terrific value and long-term reliability; to young, performance-oriented enthusiasts who appreciate Honda's world-class engine technology and the racing spirit that is present in virtually every product we build. It's the reason more than 6.6 million buyers have chosen Civic, now in its ninth year as America's best-selling compact-class car.
The 2006 Civic builds on this tradition with new technology and a new platform that delivers enhancements in virtually every area of its performance. Both the Sedan and Coupe will feature the latest generation of our intelligent VTEC technology that improves performance while setting a new standard for fuel efficiency and low emissions in the compact class.
Futhermore, a new Civic Hybrid will apply this same i-VTEC technology in combination with our IMA hybrid system to deliver even higher levels of performance and efficiency. And in keeping with our commitment to Safety for Everyone, this new Civic will apply a core suite of advanced safety features as standard equipment on all models. This includes anti-lock brakes, advanced front, side and side curtain airbags and our ACE body structure.
Simply put, the Civic will be the safest car in its class, bar none. Of course, the Civic has also played an important role in communicating the racing spirit of Honda. And this new Civic is no exception.
Later in the year, we'll launch an all-new Civic Si Coupe. The Si has long served as the performance halo for the whole Civic lineup and as the object of desire for thousands of performance-minded Civic enthusiasts. This new Si is no exception. This hot new Honda is being developed by our colleagues at R&D Americas right down the road in Raymond, Ohio. And it promises to be the fastest, most powerful and most fun-to-drive Civic we've ever put on the street.
So today we thought it might be fun to give you a bit of a preview of what this new high performance Civic is all about. So, let's take a look at the Civic Si Concept.
Here it is. The future of Civic, and Civic performance. Although this is just a concept vehicle, it gives a very strong indication of where we're headed with the new Coupe and Coupe Si in terms of styling and the overall package. It's 90 percent of what you'll see when the production models debut later this year. It's an advanced new look that speaks to the more emotional, aggressive and fun-to-drive nature of the new Civic.
Of course, the Si is about more than just the styling. That's why this concept boasts a 200-horsepower 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC engine, the most powerful motor we've ever put in a U.S. model Civic. Of course it is a little too early for you to test drive this car, but we thought we would give you a taste of what it would sound like .....Not the kind of engine note that you expect to hear from a 4 cylinder Civic... huh?
Helping to put that power to the ground is a crisp close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission along with a limited slip differential for improved launch traction and cornering performance. The Si Concept also boasts 18-inch, high performance rubber and four-wheel disc brakes with four-piston Brembo calipers. 2006 will mark the 20th anniversary of the Si in America. And the 2006 Si Coupe will remain true to the legacy of the Si, delivering a new level of performance to the Civic lineup.
Although it's too early to get into all the details, I can tell you one thing for sure. This new Si will be fast, fun and full of what makes Civic, a Civic.
Now, as you all know, the performance aftermarket has played a big part in the image of Civic with young buyers and performance enthusiasts. After all, it was Civic that was there at the birth of the compact performance trend some twenty years ago, and Civic that still holds the largest share of this market today. So, as part of our marketing efforts for this new Civic lineup and for the Si in particular, we look forward to taking a big role in the event that serves as the epicenter of the tuner market, the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas.
I am pleased to announce for the first time here today that Honda will be participating in the 2005 SEMA show as Vehicle Manufacturer of the Show, a first for any Japanese manufacturer ... and the Civic is taking center stage as the Official Vehicle of the Show. As part of this effort, we'll make SEMA the venue for the world debut of the new Si in November. It's the perfect place to showcase this new Si and to tell the world of performance tuners and aftermarket sellers how excited we are about this new Civic.
We look forward to sharing more details of the Civic Si and the total Civic lineup with you in the months to come. Thank you for your attention this morning. Please come on up and take a close look at the Civic Si Concept. And after that I invite you to join us at the SEMA press conference immediately following.

Honda Develops New 1.8-liter i-VTEC Engine that Provides Enhanced Fuel Economy and Powerful Performance
Engine scheduled for fall 2005 introduction in the all-new 2006 Honda Civic
TORRANCE, Calif. July 5, 2005 --
American Honda Motor Co., Inc., has announced it will introduce a new 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine this fall in the upcoming 2006 Civic designed to achieve both more powerful performance and enhanced fuel economy. The engine employs an "intelligent" i-VTEC system that switches the valve timing for maximum efficiency during takeoff and acceleration to achieve powerful performance with excellent torque output, and then delays intake valve closure timing during cruising and other low-load conditions for enhanced fuel economy.
With the new i-VTEC engine, intake valve closure timing is delayed to control the air intake volume, allowing the throttle to open wider under low-load conditions for a major reduction in pumping loss of up to 16 percent.
Under low-load conditions on a conventional engine by comparison, the throttle opening is small to control the intake volume of the air-fuel mixture. During this time, pumping losses are incurred due to increased intake resistance through the small throttle valve opening, a significant factor that leads to reduced engine efficiency. The new i-VTEC engine minimizes this pumping loss effect to increase efficiency.

Combined with comprehensive friction-reducing measures, the delayed intake valve closing results in a significant increase in fuel efficiency for the engine itself. A DBW (Drive By Wire) throttle control system provides precise control over the throttle valve while the valve timing is being changed, ensuring smooth driving performance. Other innovations include a variable-length intake manifold that delivers optimum inertia effect to further improve intake efficiency for powerful torque delivery at rpm ranges typical in normal driving. Piston oil jets reduce piston operating temperatures, which help suppress the possibility for engine knock in an engine with a 10.5:1 compression ratio.
Overall, the new engine delivers a high level of performance with maximum output of 140 horsepower and maximum torque2 of 128 lb-ft. It also delivers enhanced emissions performance by employing a 2-bed catalytic converter positioned immediately after the manifold and high-precision air-fuel ratio control to achieve ULEV-2 / Tier 2 Bin 5 emission levels in all 50 states.
The more powerful engine is both lighter and shorter than the current Civic 1.7-liter engine, and quieter as well. The engine's lower block construction results in a highly rigid design. Innovations that help make the engine more compact and lightweight include aluminum rocker arms, high-strength cracked connecting rods, and a narrow, silent cam chain.

Hes only quoting the actual book that honda gave their sales team to train with so all the stuff that you justr wasted you time putting up was nothing but a waste of time. I fyou dont believe me then just wait till tomorrow when i post pitures of the pages from the book that tell all about the cars and their spec. And by the way Im not young so stop making assumptions, just because you think somone is wrong

Mmmkay... if you say so. I wonder why their dealership is getting different manuals than the rest of the world though? And why their information is different than the info the other honda outlets are getting? As well as what people are seeing at the release parties honda is holding. Here's a few threads on 8thgencivic.com that you might want to look at. And just so you know, coming on here, trying to be all high and mighty will get you no where. There is a lot of info already out there, and more than your friend at teh dealership knows about. But, in case you missed a few things in what Honda has to say, let's look at some other sources, just for giggles...

There may be info here, this is from Utah, their government's contract with Honda regarding the 2006 model year stuff(didn't read every bit of it, it's long): http://www.purchasing.state.ut.us/BidHeaders/10283.pdf
There's info here, I've read it, just can't find it at the moment: http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/geneva-auto-show/index.php

Stop looking for ways to be a **ck. Those listings are like managers. He has been their for a while. The web site is not gonna list the info on the 06's they just recieved the training manuals for the 100 time on monday with all the spes to study so they have all the info before the cars are released. He aslo said that their will be a new car release update on the civic on Yahoo autos under the new car showcase. So just be patient and when I get the book from him tomorrow I will post pics fior u all to see.
