nah...i've owned a civic..had a 99 EX, totally modded for 2.5 years...
the neon doenst look as good, but is a better all around performer...better powerplant, more competent chassis....although the tranny isnt so great...the only thing I miss about the civic are the looks, and interior fit and finish...I do like a robust 150HP, high torque high reving 4 banger...and...it's strange...the tires on my car blow (will soon have new rims/tires) but the chassis is very rigid..the tires stay planted (even though the tires dont grip)

oh..BTW>..when i had my civic..i was tired of a great looking car, that was slow....I dumped oodles of cash into it, to make it , what a high 15 second car?
nah...the neon responds waayyy better to mods than a civic...and the shadow..well...lets just say with 200 bucks it's a solid mid 14 second car...

hahaha grey let it go. its his cup of tea lolz
dude its alright, if u were tired of a slow civic? why didnt u get a GSR???
thats not slow
u know what i think though that when u do up a car its better starting off with a DOHC and its always great to have about 170 - 200 HP first that way u get more when u add mods and bolts on's dont usually mean more power. ur working with a 4 banger not a v6 or v8 where mods give u like 20HP or more!
keep trying maybe u didnt img scr right!!!

img csr wha?
whud choo tawkin bout willis?

well..lets just say the most hosepower per dollar has been my shadow...major performance increase by upping boost...when it was stock I smoked Si's and GSR's

and honestly, the reason for the neon is...bang for buck...i have a house and wedding to save for *shudder*
the neon weighs 2400 lbs, has good torque, nice HP, and is..LIGHT...parts are cheap (relatively speaking compared to hondas) and when you do an intake or computer, it makes a HUGE difference...the A420 DOHC 2.0 was quite detuned..ther eis alot of potential in it...
Its not smooth or refined...it's loud, and obnoxious..exactly what I like...I mean...If I cared, I wouldnt have installed SOLID motor mounts...talk about ZERO wheelhop...

screaminDOHC: Yeah, the civic is not my first choice when it comes to performance, but it's a looker. I'de rather get a Celica GT-S (looks and performance). Or I guess RSX is nice as well. Then there's other stuff coming out that could kick serious butt. I like the new Nissan Altima as well. For older cars I like something that's affordable, looks good, and has potential for high horsepower. I must say that I even like the style of the new Mustangs. Flame me all you want. I'm starting out with my civic. After this I think I'll buy a wreck and fix it that up to supreme status. Maybe a Supra TT? Anyway, I'll either buy an old domestic or a new import. German cars are too expensive.

Howcome you chose "Civic VTi" in Members Rides? ... I was like, "Where the heck is it? All I see is a Neon... "

I like your first line under "Engine/Performance Modifications" ...

hey..it's subjective...thats what it's all about

personally I like it..I like shutting down an Si, with my bug eyes, cute little car..

*gotta love sleepers*
I personally like it...the car is actually quite small..and thats what I like about it..pure function....sure they skimped on the interior..but they made up for it with the chassis...

I almost got myself a Neon, cause a friend of mine had a 4 door one and it was nice, but my whole fmaily swapped from Domestic to Import overnight, my parents are sick of Domestic, we went through 9 domestics in less than 5 years. the worst was the Mercury Mystique, Brakes were going out after only 4 months having the car and it had 4 recalls during the 2 and 1/2 years that we had it! We had the Civic for a year so far, no problem yet!

[Edit: I am glad that we have a member that drive a different car, but isn't here to flame and scream like little girls, you rule!]

people knock domestics...which is fine I suppose...yeah.some of the cont/mistiques had problems...actually tons of problems...
but...i got my neon in june with 34,000 miles, and it now has 52,000 and I've had zero problems with it...my shadow I got with 125,000 and it's still going at 150,000..ad my fiancee has an 01 neon..she got new and it has 13,000 with not the slightest problem...
my civic was great, except at 27,000 miles it threw a rod

that indeed, was a bad day...lol

Whoa! What's that mean exactly? The piston rod? Did it break off from the crank shaft? What does that feel like?

um..yes....conecting rod...the rod bearing...at the crank....got fried, bearing fell out..and the clunking I heard was obviously slop between connecting rod and crank journal...
eeww
that is the kind of sound that makes you want to do this :
and just for good measure.. some more...

it happened in Canada..it was an AMerican civic..so the logistics were not in my favor..I did, however, get a new short block under warranty...the car was never the same thereafter...

why would you mod a dodge shadow? those cars suck. my girlfriend has a dead ugly yellow 89 shadow (engine failed at 133k miles) in her driveway thats been sitting there for a year now. my dad has a green 94 shadow thats a POS.

oh..thats right..you just a young grasshopper, not aware as to the origins of sport compact cars....the turbo mopars of the mid/later 80's were part of the foundation for the sport compact thing...as were early GTI's and Minicoopers.

check this vid
http://home.earthlink.net/~turbogus/gus_firebird_small.mpg

i'm sure you are unaware of vehicles like the 1989 Shelby CSX, 1991 Dodge Spirit R/T or 1991 Dodge Daytona R/T?

Have you ever heard of any of those?
