For what it's worth... They ARE going to crack down on loud exhausts, INCLUDING motorcyles. Was on the news just recently.
But, yeah... this sucks. I have only rims and braces on my car to make it handle better. I was not very happy with it bone stock. It had a tendancy to wonder on the freeway.... didn't feel very safe. The brace and strut bar make it run perfectly straight and stable. But explain that to a cop. I'd be very pissed if I ever got accused of racing, since I don't. Funny how most really stupid ideas always start in california.
Pretty soon I may as well trade in my coupe for a nice "safe" prius. Sheesh..
Yeah.... land of the free.

the thing that's going to suck most about this is that not everyone who has these mods on their cars actually race their cars. most of us are broke enough as it is, that we don't want to go and trash it. we just mod it to personalize it, and to make it perform better.

You know it occurs to me that the gov't instead of spending millions of dollors to "crack down on us" why not spend the money to make place us to "race" legally? I think we should start a patition against discrimination laws like this one? Whos with me?

But I don't abuse it at all. In fact, I really baby my car and go out of my way to keep dirt and scratches off it as well. I just like to have a NICE ride that doesn't look like 10 million others. Well, we'll see what develops in the future. I generally don't speed and go with the flow of traffic. I don't intend to draw attention from the CHP. Gee, I wonder if my FACTORY exhaust tip will be considered "Modified".
Ahhh... California.... what's next?
in texas they dont give a damn how many mods u have on ur import as long as u can pass state inspections but u can pass them with flying colers if u go out in the ghettos to get ur stuff inspected i feel sorry for u guys out in cali that sucks.
This is gay
I hate living in so cal
EDIT: Last night in the ontario so cal street runs the freaking cops were ALL over the place. They had helicopter with huge spotlights, there were tons of police out. They mess with some of the lights and made them flashing red, and it was traffic like crazy. I left like 10mins later... it was soo bad. Cop use to bust just the hondas/acuras... now there busting mitsu, nissan and toyotas... DAM, what did we do, lol.

Well I got pulled over about 3 weeks ago because son N00B cop thought my exhaust was loud. I was at 2000RPM cruising because I knew that he was back there. I have one of the quietest exhaust systems. Apexi N1 muffler(90mm tip) with super silencer. Good luck to all the people with loud exhaust systems. I'm glad that I'm getting rid of this car.
I spend way too much time on this website

i find it funny that cops care how load a car exuast is... what about motorcycles, some are so load the make car alarms go off (and that from the factory)
the reason laws like this came into existance is because some dumb *** kid got killed, and his mommy and daddy (who have lots of money) bought the politicians. Unfortunatly most politians dont know how to change their car's motor oil.. so when they make a law against street racing they put in things that allow cops to get involved before any racing happens... that leads to searches and seizures (not the lying on the floor and spasming kind... the take your car away kind)over things like mufflers and tint. i cant see why our government needs to make so many stupid laws... why not keep the bill of rights, and the extra amendments, then add 6-7 of the ten ccommandments... i think that should work.. i still thinks it funny that you can get a ticket for not buckling you seat belt, sure seat belts save lives (and i wear mine) but the government has no right to tell you how to treat you body.

im sorry you guys that really sucks. its good to live in the dirty south. and you know you could file a lawsuit about this. it sounds pretty unconstitutional to me. it really does. police records are available for public viewings so get some that describe the stock cars being messed with. im sure if you guys sent this information to NOPI and other organizations that are about modded cars and car shows then it would send a tidal wave back at the city. i can see this "law" crossing over to other cities including atlanta. im sure if enough companies knew about this they would all get together to do something. i mean car modding is like a bagillion dollar industry. they wouldn't just sit there and let the governenment kill all the business. thats why some mods are C.A.R.B exempt. like intakes. i hope this "law" dies soon. its the begginning of alot more crap to come.
