I'm embarassed to say I'm in the same boat. It sounds like people are saying he had his foot on the brake. What would be the proper way to do this? Pull the brake, rev it up and drop the clutch? Did he just let the clutch out with his foot on the brake, but the clutch never hooked up because of the high revs? Don't mean to sound like an idiot, but it would be funnier if I could understand just how much of a dumbass this guy is.

the stock clutch and pressure plate do not have enough clamping force to keep the clutch engaged if you are a moron like this guy. he was likely not only feathering the clutch but also hitting the brake. this caused his clutch to start slipping, and he just mashed the gas, and then let out the clutch. but at this point it was too late as the clutch was already slipping so it just kept slipping. he probably burned through several thousand miles worth of clutch life or more. in fact, if he glazed it badly enough he may have to replace it immediately.

So what you are saying is that Dodge made a car that is marketed towards the "moron" crowd and put a clutch that is not moron proof........ figures

locks up the rear wheels so you can spin the fronts w/o the car moving. It's like a line lock in a RWD car, just the opposite wheels. You don't need to heat up street tires anyway and I doubt this guy was running slicks.

hehe yes and no.

pretty much most mass produced cars will have this kind of thing happen if you treat it as this tool did. the S2000 is known for having a weak clutch, which is why it should never be feathered on a launch. (and actually, it's not so much a weak clutch as a weak pressure plate! the oem clutch is actually quite sturdy)

that said, you're right, dodge didn't moron proof the car, even though their targeted demographic was going to be a "less mature" crowd so to speak. less mature does not necessarily mean less knowledgeable, but unfortunately it does seem as though many a ricer tool has purchased one of these vehicles.

either way, dodge doesn't care, as moron abuse isn't covered under warranty so it's money in their pocket.

One of the more pain full things I've ever seen is S2000's launching at a Pro solo. and mind you this is in the stock classes.... think Redline... Dump clutch. from talking to a few of the drivers, apparently because they are running such sticky tires Hoosier (AS04's at the time) you have to get the rear tires to spin on launch or you'll spin (and fry) the clutch..

Anyone have a copy of this video. I would like to see it!!

ALL SRT-4 OWNERS ARE IDIOTS! Oh.. but it thats true, then the math equation should be used.

SRT-4 Owners = Idiots = Most of Population = Honda Owners

OMG so you mean to tell me that some Honda owners are idiots as well? No freaking way.. get out of town! Oh but its none of you guys.. don't worry you are cool.

The SRT-4 clutch is good till 450HP, and like 400ft-lbs of torque. Put that guy behind the wheel of any car.. Honda EVEN OMG! Yes! And he will probably screw up as he did with the neon.

I still havne't seen the video.. so someone post a working link.
