i thought the flames come out from going past redline, why else would the cars be flaming DURING the race because who in the right mind would turn their flame kit on when they're busying pushing NOS buttons

You can do it with just a spark plug in back if you don't burn all of your fuel. Then again, others do it with propane and a spark plug. Whatever. I might try that just for the hell of it. Maybe with the stock exhaust though. I couldn't want to cut up a new exhaust.
Prolly that old trick Grey mentioned. Drill a hole in the exhaust tip, insert a spark plug, wire it to a switch, and BAM!! It burns the un-spent gas in your exhaust. Prolly won't work on our ULEV cars with choked up exhaust and phat catalytic converter. Who's gonna be first to try so we know for sure?
Its a movie shiet yo, most of it is special effects i dont see how ppl can take this movie seriously when most of the movie is fictional and made up and poorly edited might i add

While the movie might not be that accurate, I will have to admit that it DID get me into the import racing scene so props to that.
I think that might have been the whole movies intent, well, and to make the aftermarket companies alot happier....

I've seen that movie three times in the theatre, and twice on computer. Oh, and once on DVD.
Nevertheless, about the flames. Yes, a flame kit would do it, but... hmm, something else that would do it that is NOT illegal would be... the misfiring system. *gasp* Yes, a misfiring system. Gunshots + fire = 1337. Damage to catback? Definately.
Btw, the Fast and the Furious did not introduce me to the import scene, although it did help renew some likes / dislikes. Initial D actually STARTED me off about cars, and then it eventually lead to import. Cool stuff though. I have the entire Stage I, Stage II, Extra Stage, and Third Stage Movie if anyone wants it. Captions included.

From what I heard it works a straight pipe, this way u have unburned fumes leaving your exhaust, the u just hook up spark plug on the end of the exhaust and u r ready. U need to be careful cause this stuff may blow or back fire or something like that

Man, the Fast and the Furious was an amazing movie. Being the first real import car movie out there it was pretty good even though it has some special effect flaws. Props to the producer!
