Trouble with 20's on vic
Trouble with 20's on vic
Ok, i just got my rims today (20 x 7.5) and i took them up to the tire shop. I tried to put one on (rear) with my 1.4" drop but that didn't work out because it didn't clear my fender. I was just testing this out just incase it did fit because i was planning on putting stock springs back on. I did some thinking and when i raised the front up, maybe the struts would get in the way? i don't know. everybody keeps telling me that it will fit on stock springs but will it clear the strut? i really need help before i go and waste $100 to put stock springs back on. Let me know a.s.a.p. Thanks
i'm pretty sure u need to leave it stock height for 20's...people with 19's were already asking for it, i just don't know why you'd get 20's
raise it back up, and give it another shot, if that doesn't work, get some nice 16's or 17's =P

this is not a hostile comment, but a sincere(sp?) question.
if you plan on riding with 20s at factory height please reconsider. its gonna look hideous and most of us would rather look at a stock wheel with no hub cap on (JDM y0) then seeing a Civic with 20s without a drop.
i dont think you'll have issues in the front but the rear is where the problem would be. i suggest to roll the fenders in the rear but i'm sure that alone wont help much. you're going to need to run negative camber also if you want it to fit...
a good size drop is a must on 20s..... i'm tlaking about 3+ inches.

wow geez... i didn't know so many people were going to post bad comments about 20's on a civic. Sorry if i affended the 7thgencivic community. i won't post here anymore. sorry for wasting your time. and thank you hustlelikemofo for some of the help.
Don't take offence. Most of the people here would qualify that as "RICE". They'll be the one's "flaming" you. Let's ignore them.
For the most part I'm here to learn, and to teach others what I have learned over the years.
First things first. Loose the drop. I know this from experiance. Not my own, but still from experiance. Do you know the spec. on your wheels and tires? Even when you loose the drop, you could still have problems. The biggest one would be rubbing on the strut. If this occours.... your S.O.L. with thoes wheels. If your not rubbing, then we'll move on. The clearance to the body would be the next issue. You MAY (again this all depends on your wheel and tire specs.) rub on the front fenders. You also could rub on the rear 1/4, after you put the car on the ground. In this case, you could "roll" the fenders. There are a couple of ways of doing it, but that is a topic of another thread.... Don't forget to look for rubbing when the wheel is turned from "lock to lock" too.
