Thats the real reason they will open the plant there.
Like the only reason they are raising prices is to help GM. Come on give me a F*** break, why is a company that has stated they want to become the biggest auto maker in the world what the rival to out sell them?
Toyota has been opening its mouth too much. Usually I don't hate on a company, but Toyota is starting to annoyed me.

Truth is they want to pay people **** and American people wont let them do that. They also hate unions, umm wonder why.. they protect the people.
Its obvious they think they can get away with playing it dirty in Canada. Hell GM has done it... You think GM is all American lol, honestly think again. Take a look at where thier plants are.
I like to note that everyones car on this site is American built
so have fun bashing your own vechs
Ohh ya I understand where toyota is coming from...Fresno california... Most arent american born and have never seen school. They pick crops all day

EDIT: The YOU is generic in the post and not directed specifically towards you.
EDIT II: And I would follow you own advice in the rep you gave me. I would appreciate not giving people bad rep for something that you don't know the context behind.

i call the article BS. The author is obviously completely bias. You can from the way the article is written that he has a complete bias against bush and his facts are incorrect. He writes the article to completely inflame. He uses the two states in the union that are one of the poorest in the union as a representive of the United States.
The example of "67% literacy rate" he uses is incorrect. The literacy rate for the United States is 95%.
http://www.arthurhu.com/index/literacy.htm
US workers, work the most in the world. US workers work longer then both German and Japanese workers.
Anyways, i highly doubt Toyota was say anything inflaming like that. You can probably assume the author took words out of context to support his article.

I don't know if this has been metioned yet?
but one major reason they choose Canada over the US is simple, they won't have to pay a dime for medical insurance for employees! thats why a lot of companies head over the border.

i find it hard to believe that america's literacy rate 67%.. and that you can get a job making $55k a year + pension without knowing how to read.
if this is the case i'm moving to Alabama or wherever and becoming an executive for a car company.

I want facts, how can you say US citizens are lazy????
Did you go out and survey and come to this conclusion????
I want to know your thought process, look around can you see this crumbling, you act as if we are falling apart as a country???
If so then what has changed since the last 200 sum odd years, nothing, its america, it is always "falling apart" and people will always worry about our dollar not being worth that much, but it is all non-sense. People need to calm down, and stop making uneducated generalizations. Also the **** i read on hear sometimes does gets to me cause i cannot believe how dumb some people are, and remember i said "some".

after reading this and then discussing this topic with some family members. I wouldn't be surprised about the literacy rate...this is my second yr out of HS and the schools are just plain sad nowadays. even if people are stupid doesn't mean they can't learn anything or hold a job, its just the lack of motivation they have..."pure laziness" compared to alot of other countries we are deff lacking in the educational department but other countries are just willing to work, no matter what the job.

Like what I said, it is just a badly written article that is only worth reading between the lines.

In 1979 literacy rates were around 97%. Since then we have had a major influx of immigrants from various countries. Our demographics have changed and consequently reflect in our literacy rates.

The people that are arguing that american's are lazy are missing the point of the article. The fact is that many in the United states population are uneducated. This country is run by a minority of people.

Americans are stupid? Right...Well, I can't speak for Californians, but Toyota's building a plant in San Antonio.
http://www.toyota.com/about/operatio...xas/index.html
Also, here's the intelligence level of Toyota. I work for a large construction firm, so I know this for a fact. Toyota put a broad form idemnification clause in their contract, basically saying that for whatever reason whatsoever, the contractor is at fault. All that does is make all the contractors pad their bids making a $4 billion plant, $8 billion. So who's stupid?

Maybe if the US had a health plan like Canada's (not that it can) it would be more appealing for companies to set up shop here.
The US of A could have socialized health care, they just chose not to, its a nation too afraid to raise tax rates. God forbid someone get a free ride on someone else's dime, the motto of the working class, meanwhile the upper class fleeces them in their sleep as tax cuts go deeper and deeper and social services decline steadily. Just look at the schools.
US could have full medicare. It's actually cheaper. Total medical costs in Canada = 10% of GDP. Total medical costs in US = 15% of GDP.
That's half again as much as Canada pays. (sorry to state the obvious).
And the US also has a higher GDP per capita so the difference is even bigger.
Also, our drugs aren't cheaper because of price controls, we hardly ever enforced them (twice I think) and we gave the drug industry extra years of patent protection to make up for the control laws. But the real reason is that our health services buy in bulk. You know what kind of rate you can get on drugs when you buy enough for the whole province of Ontario at once?
Also, article must be a joke. We have bloated union stuff in the auto sector here too.

As for patent protection, if a drug won't perform financially, drug companies have no incentive to develop new ones, unless of course they have a big market for them. So 'small' diseases won't see drugs developed unless the government can ensure a company will have a monopoly and thus a source of income from a certain drug for 'x' years.
