i wont get a next car. my next vehicle will be a diesel truck bwahahaha... toyota cant really give me that. i could care less where yota builds their next plant... i have a good job so im not too worried about it.
im not sure about most of america being stupid, but it certainly seems that at least 1 out of 3 are not very bright. i would say, however, that a large portion of america is ignorant.

It's beginning to look like the US is going to have to cede a lot of its auto manufacturing to Canada and to a lesser extent to Mexico at least as far at the 'Big Three' are concerned. Most of the GM cars that are rated as high quality such as Buick and the Impala are made in Canada. The same goes for Chrylser with the PT Cruiser (Mexico) and Intrepid and Ford with the Crown Vic. The scoffed at cars, the Neons, Focuses, Stratuses, Saturns, are mainly made in the US. I think the truck manufacturing will start to consolidate in Canada too, with inroads and competition made by the Japanese makers.

The US of A could have socialized health care, they just chose not to, its a nation too afraid to raise tax rates. God forbid someone get a free ride on someone else's dime, the motto of the working class, meanwhile the upper class fleeces them in their sleep as tax cuts go deeper and deeper and social services decline steadily. Just look at the schools.
Could have is the operative word. If it were to happen it would have been in the 1950s and 60s. As it turned out the US did get a partially socialized health care system with Medicare for the elderly, which is more important anyway than insuring the young. ALL efforts must be employed to preserve this program, however, I'm doubtful about its future with the kind of people in Washington.

At this point it is infeasible to establish a national health program in the US with the illegal immigration, etc. It was much simpler with Canada with fairly homogenous popluation to enact national medical coverage. In the US why would someone in Vermont want to pay high taxes to pay for the problems of California and Texas.

MY OPINION:

americans are fvcking stupid and lazy at its finest. i hate working with them bitches who thinks nothing about the job but expects the pay. that article said pretty much accurate definition of america's workforce- greedy, stupid, and lazy. i dread working with them lazy bitches who talks on the phone, disappears from the job, and literally don't want to do ****. i mean why the flying fvck would you get a job when you don't want to do anything? just sit your *** home and "watch oprah" dumb ***. i would rather work by myself rather than burrying myself into anger knowing that those fvckers get paid like/more than me and doesn't do as much work and effort as i do.
good for toyota, i hope that many company's think more like toyota. avoid the greedy--stupid-lazy workers wasting their fvcking money and find the right people that would genuinely work for the company and not all about the pay.
damn this issue get's me all fired up and ****.

Damn bro you sound pissed.

I agree with the part about TV having an influence. I just think americans need to stop watching CNN as well. Americans seem to be living with hatred, fear and confusion because Bush has done a good job at brainwashing. He thinks he has to get back at people, but he's not getting back at people, he's getting back at countries as a whole, getting american soldiers killed at the same time. I don't think he's a good leader at all.

Canada's health care has local funding decisions at the provincial level with federal money being handed out to each province as well so Vermontians wouldn't really be paying to cover Texas, etc, although, why is one person's tax dollars going to help another so foreign a concept? That sort of self-interested attitude is what stops a lot of good programs going forward. It's called society. Helping each other out, etc. That's why countries have progressive income tax. The old motto: "Those who can afford to pay more do"

Progressive taxes aren't always equal though, thats naive. If you look at a lot of societies, its the middle class the pays the most, and the rich are burdened the least. Even Canada's tiered income tax system isn't perfect.

We have a lot of immigration here too, hell, the entire country is composed more or less entirely of immigrants, barring a native population of English and French in Ontario and Quebec. I'm finishing my degree right now and the people I'm competing with, by and large, are not exclusively from this country.

Those who can afford to pay don't necessarily pay more. Americans are a bit less socialist than Canadians, that goes w.out saying, you can't declare one system better than the other, its simply a question of values. But the idea of someone in the US of someone getting a free ride on someone else's dime appears to be more abhorent down there than up here.

Either way, a lot of health care dollars are raised provincially, with only a certain percentage being federal money, the federal government only really getting a lot of it's money from certain land holdings and of course the GST, which effectively taxes 7% of the entire merchant economy. Its starting to become an expensive system though. I imagine it wasn't implemented in the US owing to problems of scale, its efficient when small, but when large, costs seem to balloon disproportionately.

Also, isnt' American health care called "Medicaid" and not "Medicare"? Just curious.
