A/C & Heat Switch Problem

A/C & Heat Switch Problem

Question. What does it mean when the A/C and Heat dont work in the two lower Speeds? If you switch the Air or Heat on to Low and the 1st speed over Low, nothing will come out. If it is A/c or if it is heat you get nothing. Does that mean that the fan switch is going?

This would be for a 2001 Chevrolet Prizm, but it would be the same for a civic.

The Prizm is the twin to the Toyota Corolla.

It could be either the fan switch or the "resistor assembly" It would be easy to pull the resistor unit it is located behind the glove box near the blower motor, It will have several (4-6 wires) coming into it. leave the wires in place and remove the mounting screws to remove the unit and you can look it over to see if any of the coils are loose or open. (the blower fan resistor unit is always in the fans air path to cool it)
