Question How will this sound?

OK, Im planning on getting a muffler and having some muffler shop weld it on from the axle. I cant afford a catback right now, so this will do until I get there. I know our stock pipping is pretty small. Im planning on getting a 2.25" inlet ractive muffler.

Does anyone know how its going to sound? Low and deep? Stock? Fart cannish? I just need to know before I throw down some cash for it. Thanx

it will sound like a fart can, depending upon the muffler u got. most mufflers are made to sound loud as possible. get a muffler that has a sound thing in it to depress the sound. i dont like my exhaust loud, i just have it to fill up my kit and make it look nice. looks real nice in its place. id go for a catback if u could instead of that. i mean u can get a catback for 300. i got my magnaflow for 300. its a full catback, works great, not to loud. in ur case, 30-50 for a muffler, then like 100-150 more for the custom piping to the muffler and work and for a hundred or so more u can get a already catback and u dont have to go back and change it later on. do it right first. i learned that after a while.

I would suggest not getting just a muffler and welding it, reason being I have a buddy with a 92 hatch that did that now the weld is coming apart and his car sounds like a lawnmower. What I did cause i also could not spend the cash on a cat-back was I just got a no name brand axleback exhaust it just bolts right on replacing the stock unit. Its made by Rocket or something, but it sounds great really nice deep tone. This way you dont have to worry about the weld coming apart plus it looks alot cleaner and you always have the option of putting the stock unit back for w/e reason.

It'll be loud as all hell... The stock pipe will cause so muscle back pressure and the muffler will just go crazy and scream bloody murder.

Yea, you could do that... But you'll see no power gains what so ever.

that is not true. a member welded on a tanabe universal muffler and he claims it doesnt sound loud enough. back pressure will stay the same, the same amount of air flow will be traveling the same rate as if it were the OEM muffler.

ractive mufflers are just another APC brand. ****

Just save up and get a manufactured exhaust.
I wish I did, instead of getting a shop to make one.

keyword... claims. Back pressure will stay the same as stock, any cause the muffler to be loud as ****. OEM mufflers are made to cut down on the sound. Aftermarket mufflers are made to let the exhaust flow right though, and not cutting the sound down too much.

You should get a full cat-back though, cause when you deside to go turbo, it will work with you.

I would go turbo, but I have other things that I need to save my money for. Thats the whole reason for me not wanting to go get a catback.

I also dont see the point of buying a brand name universal muffler, coz they go like 200-300 bucks. If I was going to spend that much for a muffler than I would just go with the same brand name catback. Its like the pricing is almost forcing people to get the catback instead of the universal muffler.

Im not sure as to what Im going to do yet. Ill wait to see if anyone puts up an axleback for sale or something.....

Thats an Eribuni GTR spoiler with led's. i got a kamikaze header which defentally helped Stock exhaust no resignator. I think it's a deep rich tone sounds good, Like i said before only thing i hate is it crackles in 1st when i caost and i think it does that bc the muffler is used and it's pretty well beet. In a few weeks i'm getting a custom exhaust 2 1/4 304 stainless random tech cat and apexi n1 muffler so i can't wait to get that and see what kinda gain's i'll get and what it will sound like.
