new car

After careful consideration, I will only modify the exterior appearence of my vic, therefore I will buy a separate car for the track. What is a known brand/model of car which will 1) currently sell for $2500 2) is more likely to last than others ? It also needs low-cost parts and aftermarket parts available (if possible), but then suspension/tires are the main things.

I guess I should also ask what to look for in a potential track-only car when I actually go visit some?

Thanks

It's going to be a regular closed circuits (non-oval or straight...). Handling + reliability(at least for a season) then power.

Old Miatas are cheap and handle great. Old RX7s are also great if you know how to work on a rotary, and 240s are decent as well, except all of the 240s I know are broken down right now. Like mentioned earlier an old Supra would be something to consider as well. Lastly I would suggest looking into late 90s mustangs and camaros because those things depreciate very quickly.

nissan 240sx is a great car with a good aftermarket.
early miatas are really good. probably the best bet if you want a cheap car that handles well and has a good aftermarket.

you don't care what it looks like when its a race car, silvia conversion is a waist of money for a race car. So quite frankly is a SR20DET. My friend runs a S13 in ITA with the stock motor (some work done to it) and it does fine.

a good platform for power is an eagle talon tsi. those things can really tear it up with few upgrades and boltons.

240sx is also a great car for track purposes.
