I need a few suggestions...
Hey everyone, I'm kind of in the market for another car. I'd like to get one that's got AWD, and can be made reasonably fast (~400hp) level. I'm not so sure about a wrx off the bat, I just really don't like them too much. I was looking at BMW 325xi's, but they're too slow, and there aren't really any mods for them. I also looked a bit at other misc cars, and came up with the audi a4 1.8T as possibly a pretty good choice to do some work to. Anyone have any suggestions as to a good car? I'm in the price range of about $20-25k, and I want to get a used car with pretty low miles (less than 30k) on it. Thanks in advance everyone!
Not sure about how much the used Audi S4s go for but I would look into them. I think like a 2000 S4 arounda round $20k..... a 2001 around $22k. They can be fast with not too many mods.

400hp and AWD? This is "reasonably fast" for you. In most average weight cars this translates into "very fast" in my book. If your spending 20-25k on the car, how much are you going to put into mods? Methinks you need to set your sights a little lower...
yes i think a good audi s4 is in the price range, maybe a little higher miles, but the s4 is better than the a4. no doubt though, the a4 is good. i didnt really like the wrx when it first came out, but i like it alot now. you can get a used sti within that mileage for around $25k.
if you are really looking for around 400 hp, a factory turbocharger makes it easier to attain. good luck finding what you want, and of course, test drive them all to find out which you like the best.

400 HP and AWD... probably an S4, RS6, Evo or STi, but with quite a bit of work.
No mods for an e46 BMW? You're ****ing kidding right?
First of all... the numbers don't speak too much as far as the speed of the car. Sure... 184 HP isn't much to start with, but you don't have to slow down much either. Xdrive, DSC and a whole lot of low end umph make the car a whole lot of fun to drive... Turn the DSC off..... the car WILL go sideways around a corner. Trust me, I know, there's a 325XiT in my garage. But no mods, you gotta be kidding me. You can buy anything from a computer reflash to a supercharger kit, to new rear end ratios to completely new suspensions to just about anything else you can think of. 400 HP? Probably not, the drivetrain won't handle it, but why the hell do you need all that power?

I don't know, I guess you can find a reasonably low priced last gen model, but yeah, like mentioned, wheres the money for the tuning going ot be?
I'd listen to them and go with the already high-horsepower cars.

Hey, I mean, I'm not afraid to sleeve the block, and make any necessary drivetrain/differential/trans gearset/head/valve/ignition mods, I just want a car that I can whip around and drag. I looked into the e46 a little more and found a supercharger for it, many suspension mods, etc... I think I may go with it and see what happens from there. from what I understand, the 325xi would probably handle much better than the audi anyway from the start. over the course of 2-3 years, I'd maybe not wanna spend more than like 15-20k in mods on the car.

in that price range, i think youre looking at a subaru...or a pretty used audi. bmw retain their value very well, so a low milage xi will be out of that range w/o a doubt.
i dont know what youre smoking if you dont think a bmw or audi doesnt have any tuner potential. thats the most retarded thing ive heard. there is soooooooooooooo much tuning potential in those cars its not even funny.

The ideal used platform would be the late 90s S4 with the 2.7L Bi-turbo V6.
