I love my LX just fine. There's no huge difference between it and the EX, even without VTEC. To prove it, ask any one of the 5 or 6 EX coupes I have raced, and beat, if they think the LX sucks. Hehe!!

To me I think the LX 5spd has decent power, but I am not used to not having the low end and closed ratio geabox on my VW. The LX could beat it though. Haven't driven an EX though

I've raced other 2k1 civics and end up killing them. The Lx rules no doubt, a little more power would be nice though. Only got Cold Air and exhaust and bored out the throttle.(Makes a difference!!!)

<< I dont beleive the new Si is slower than the 99-00 Si's...
Im pretty sure they both do 0-60 in 7.1 seconds

According to Sport compact car, car and driver, and every other magazine i've read, the 0-60 time is exactly the same.....~7.3

i have an auto DX....(same engine as the lx)....and i dont have problems in traffic unless the other person is trying hard to keep me from merging. I sorta raced another manual DX the other day and i could tell he was quite a bit quicker though.

Also, dont expect much when you have 6 ppl in your car like i did over the weekend....lol...big performance difference.

Overall, no complaints.

Ya im pretty sure they're either the exact same or such a small difference that it would make no difference...
the 2k2 Si's have more torque than the 99-00 models

I have a lx coupe. I find the acceleration leaves a bit to be desired, but I understand it's an economy car.

i very happy with my LX...i know is not as fast as a SI or the RSX or matter of fact probably slower than the accord but hay when time past by they are going to have all kind of stuff to make our civic go faster.....i already believe the civic is better looking than all of them just wait a little while ...while all the products comes out....than you will have the go and the show....and who can beat that.....

my lx is fast enough, my ex always used to try and race me in his 3-series, and i could keep up. the acceleration isn't anything to call home about- i have to go to like 4k rpms to keep up with some other cars on the road in acceleration, and my mom's accord is definitely definitely more powerful, but nonetheless my 5-speed LX hasn't been a disappointment. i love her.

From personal experience, I think you should spring for the Ex if you can. IN the long run you'll probably like it.

remember, my s2000 has more kick than your Civic Si. lol

As for an lx beating an Si? The Si could start in second gear off the line and still win. No offense. Nothin wrong with the lx. just responding to a previous post. (the person who's raced the EX/Si with their LX)

k, personally, this whole topic is pissing me off just reading it... last time I checked, the Civic is an ECONOMY car... sure the Si has kick, the EX has VTEC, and the LX/DX have very ample power, but NONE of them are hot-rods and we should all keep that in mind.. S2000man01, obv you have a quick car, but remember, this is a Civic site, not a not an all Honda site, im sure all of us are intelligent enough to figure out a S2000 is faster than a Civic so you dont need to enlighten us all everytime a subject like this comes up..... remember to all the Si/EX owners, not all ppl have the money to get anything about a DX/LX, so give em some respect, they're Civics and that's the only thing that they need to join the boards in convo... im sure i pissed some ppl off, oh well, sometimes thats just how it is, but keep in mind that Civics are economy cars... not Vipers

I have no doubt that people buy what they can afford. And whether you have a dx/lx/ex/si/ integra, crv, whatever. If you have a honda, it's just a good buy. But i must disagree with your classifying a civic as an economy car. A civic may be economical, but I think you'll find that what drives honda's market is the car enthusiasts. I mean you can find a million and one aftermarket parts for this car. It is built for performance and improving upon that performance. I mean dayum, ... a honda civic's bottom end can take one hell of a beating, the block of a honda cools better than any other car on the market, and the STOCK crankshaft of a honda can take well over 500hp at the wheels. Show me an "economy car" that can do all that, and have the aftermarket support that this car does. I think the civic is for enthusiasts and those out to customize their rides, and not just for grandma who wants to save a few bucks on gas.

s2000man, yeah, you dont have to enlighten everyone about how your car can beat everyone elses car. I throw a Turbo Kit in my car and your S2000 will have a contender. Last time I checked the S2000 wasn't so fast itself compared to some other RWD cars my favorite being the Supra TT. And yes your correct in the older gens it was performance driven, but these new 7th gens are ECONOMY driven, ULEV emmissions rating, VTEC-E with the E being for Economy. Why do you think bolt-ons for the 2k1 give crappy hp gains. I swear, they dont build em like they used to.

yes, the aftermarket world for the Civic will always be huge... always has been, always will... and I agree that Honda does have some amazing engineering under there hands... but my point is I'm sure Honda is more focussing to make the Civic to get 40 MPG and the ULEV rating, and give all the ballz to Preludes and S2000s... just my $.02
