pulleys

if i change the pulleys on my ride. will it affect the performance of the air conditioner and my audio system, runing two amps. i heard it takes some power away from these, it that true?

It makes your alternator output 10% less than what it's outputting now. If you get an alternator which output more amps per revolution, then you'll offset the problem. Then again, an alternator that generates more power than the stock alternator will also offer more resistence to turning. Unless alternators in general could produce more power without offering more resistence? I don't know? Maybe the bigger and better alternators have ball bearings in them and other technological innovations that allow them to produce more power without actually being harder to turn than the stock alternator? You'de have to do some research. People with souped up audio systems do complain when they've added new pullies though. One guy had problems during idle at a stop light with the system cranked. That kind of stuff...

i have the aem pulleys! and i am running 2 power series 800 a4 amps and 3jl audio 10w6 woofers! i did have a problem it sucked so much juice that when i parked and shut the car off that i couldnt start it back up! but i have since then put in a 1 farad stiffening cap and a optima yellow top battery deep cycle and now my headlights dont flash and my car will start right up ! even if i play it for hours! dakota

Ah! Good deal... So, that's another way to go... Probably easier to install than a new alternator too.

I'm planning to get a monster cap for my car.......... i don't want to mess my alternator up....... my lights flash a slight when i bump my subs over 40 % the set volume.
