Rep Power: 0 Exactly why I would NEVER buy a Hyundai
Haha, check this article out. I'm not sure if it has been posted yet or not. At least 290 engines in the new Hyundai Santa Fe have seized up. One seized with only 18 miles on it, while someone was test driving it. Six of the engines that seized were replacement engines that Hyundai had put in to replace the original engines that had seized.
In my opinion, HYUNDAI = CHEAP CRAP

Rep Power: 0 Yeah I hate them. And man with only 12 Miles on one of them, thats great. And I love this quote.
<< The Santa Fe, in particular, has been hailed as a quality product and helped Hyundai to outsell Japanese rivals Mitsubishi and Mazda last year. >>
Gee I wonder if it has to do anything with the fact that its an SUV selling for the price of a car, and the reason being is its all crap, and Mazda and Mitsubishi are of better quality. But hey thats just my .02 cents.

Rep Power: 0 Haha, I would have loved to see the look on the salesman's face when the engine seized up on a test drive with only 18 miles on it. I wonder how he explained that to the customer!

Rep Power: 0 hyundais are sh*t. my girlfriend has a 95 elantra with 93k on it and the transmission already went, and she had to pay 1700 to get it fixed (i told her to get rid of it, but she wouldnt listen) and now it wont even start. shes only had it for a year and its already cost more in repairs than my old 88 dodge omni ever cost for 141,500 miles and counting

Rep Power: 388 The Santa Fe is a mini-SUV, built on a car chassis. It competes with the new Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute, the Toyota RAV4, and the Honda CRX
I think they meant CR-V??? How is it comparable to a CRX??
Hyundai's are crap. My sister had an old excel and it couldn't even make it up the hill. It seems like these crappy car companies (hyundai, Kia, Daewoo) are just offering long warrenties to sell their crappy cars. I'll take a Honda, Acura, Nissan, or Toyota anyday.

Rep Power: 0 Last year Hyundai had to recall more than 150,000 Accents, Elantras, Sonatas, Tiburons and XG300 luxury sedans for faults ranging from defective air bags to throttle controls, and ignition faults that could stall the car at speed.
You know i really thought Hyundais could be trusted, their 10 year warranty I guess made a good impression but apparently not

That still doesn't say that their vehicles are better!?! And believe it or not, you can buy about 3 or more Cavaliers for the price of a BMW or Mercedes, same goes for Hyundai!

Rep Power: 0 You know what's funny. In the UK Hyundai is considered one of the most reliable car manufactors around and Honda's are considered crap. I can't imagine that.

i find that hard to believe. hyundai earned its reputation by selling unreliable pieces of sh*t, and honda earned its reputation by selling cars that are very reliable and very often go 200,000+ miles, why would this be any different in the UK? are they selling different cars there?

Rep Power: 0 I love my car, and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but these have been some closed minded comments considering we have this Sometimes it's not hard to figure out why people come here to hate on us and our own cars.

Rep Power: 0 Why do you have to talk down on Koreans?
They are a people like any other culture.
Leave other cultures alone and stop talking sh*T about other cultures.

Rep Power: 344 I'm not sure if he was really dissing Koreans or not, but if he was, he probably thought he's asian and thus its okay for him to bash on other asians. If he's Korean, then things probably make even more sense- sorta.
anyway leave the race card outta this.
IMO, the Korean car manufactures are really stepping up... I'm looking foward to seeing their upcoming vehicles... you know people, if you're not able to see the pros and cons of things like this... then you should start trying. some of you probably have good reasons... but I wish sometimes people will be more constructive in their criticism... giving a reason why you think something is BS can go a long way... thats my opinion anyway.
here's another thing for u guys to think about, Honda's recent new 02 CRV was recalled too... a good number of 'em had serious problems.. what, I forgot... but just to let u guys know that, like everything else in this world, no car manufacture is perfect. now, which is more reliable is up for debate.
k. I'm done.

Rep Power: 0 Yes, before 1995 Hyundai used crappy mitsubishi motors which wasnt reliable, giving hyundai a bad rep!
Then after 95 hyundai redesign all of their cars with help of a porsche designer. In 1996 the tiburon was born which increased their sales. This tiburon was popular over UK/europe also here in the states. If you follow World Rally championship ,hyundai have been competiting since there AWD turbo Elantra and now the WRC accent. Which in 2001 they did pretty well, cause WRC is one of the most grueling and difficult motorsports. Here in the States the Tiburon rally have been dominating in SCCA rally! Ever Since the first time Hyundai Tiburon entered the Pike Peaks stock class 97 and won it! The Tiburon was destine for greatness and it did, 5-times SCCA rally champion! Tiburon is powered by a beta 2.0L DOHC engine(used also in Elantra& others),rated @ 140hp/160hp F2, which isnt that bad. One nice thing about Tiburon is the engine layout is similar to the Lancer Evo 4G63t (not the DSM 4G63,intake goes the other direction) so 4G63T can be droped easily! 280hp/turbo on a light wieght tiburon sounds good! The Beta 2.0L motor is also a great motor in korea they manage to pushed it up to 600-700hp+! Theres alot more things about tiburons and versions that never came to here. So, I wouldnt say Hyundai suck...I love there cheap price and warranties is unbeatable! Also I wouldnt mind driving a Accent hyundai reliability is up.

Rep Power: 0 i beep at hyundais on the road just cause they are hyundais..they deserve it. the tiburon and the accent, especially the 2 door, are the ugliest cars i have ever seen. for christs sake, if you're gonna buy a new car, spend an extra few thousand and get a honda. the only reason why honda can sell their quality cars for so cheap is because they are reliable- they have a good reputation- and they can afford to because they save so much money from NOT needing to advertise. hyundai probably spends millions and millions more than honda does on advertising, because they need to, because they don't have a good reputation. i wonder how hyundai even manages to break even.

Rep Power: 0 Mitsubishi's suck. A company I used to work for had 2 Galants. They both got bad oil leaks right at 100k miles and it was cheaper to put in a new engine than fix the problem.
