02 1.7 EL cluster question

Hey guys just got my 02 EL daily driver and Im doing a few mods to it - I want to mess around with the cluster lighting and was thinking of picking up another cluster to mess around with and keep the stock one in case I want to change it back. I see the kms on the car are digital so am I ok doing this? The ECU stores the mileage on the car right? SO if I swap clusters will the mileage still be correct? Or is the mileage stored in the cluster?

Thanks in advance

-Jeff

Not sure if ELs are different in this fashion than Civics .. but the mileage recorded in the clusters remain there - as well as being stored in the ecu. However, if you swap clusters, the new cluster would have a different mileage than the stored ecu numbers. To match the mileage on the ECU you would need to have the cluster reflashed.

Milage will NOT carry over between clusters.

If you want an easy upgrade from the 01-02 cluster, you could always try to find an 03+ cluster which looks different and uses electroluminescent lighting.
