ricer got caught

it was a cold evening and light showers. you know how a cars exhaust will exhale white smoke in cold climates or when start-up as the engine is heating up. as i was driving and pull to a stop next to a mustang with dual exhaust posing as a V8 with its almighty dual exhaust.. i noticed something unusal, only one of the pipes were blowing out exhaust fumes

im suprised v6 owners do this to look like they drive a "V8". there are also times where i see one exhaust outlet hanging lower than the other or even shaped differently

Putting a dual exaust on isn't bad if both are functional... It's only ricey when fumes only come out of the stock side.

more and more cars are getting dual exhaust that don't really need/deserve it.
look at some of the top performing cars; evo's, sti's and skylines all have single ehxuast pipes. what makes you think your dx civic needs one?
i'll let the S2000's dual exhaust slide... it's making 240 hp out of a N/A 2 liter4 cylinder.

True, O but funny story alone these lines... My buddy bought a 2004 Chevy Cavy and It had a Razzi kit already installed on it w/ a fake tip on the passanger side, so after another friend of mine and I made fun of him, he had me pull it off his car... I was clearcoating my blacked out taillights at the time and I came back outside to see his huge chorme tip hanning off my exaust pipe, lol... long story short I got a free razzi tip for my exaust... keep an eye out, posting pics soon of new headlight tints, taillight tints, exaust tip , and type-r grill.... well in retrospect, I gess that isnt a funny story after all Oh well...

Mm, SRT-4 is another I4 w. a dual exhaust pipe and if I'm not mistaken even the last gen of regular Neon (SX 2.0) had one.

well my auto tech teacher's 93 cobra when it has a cold engine only blows steam out of 1 pipe when idling untill he pushes the gas...its because there is not enough pressure for both untill the gas is pressed...

Ok, for those who dont know, heres the real deal with most duel exhaust. Im sure that Mustang was a v6, however, the duel exhaust kits are a single in and duel out, much like most of the import v6 cars on the market. What you were seeing was STEAM, not smoke, all cars do it when its cold, its from the moisture in the piping from the weather. When the car is at idle there is not enough preasure in muffler to force exhaust gas out the second pipe, it will actually make negative preassure and form a vaccume on the tailpipe, probably enough to stick a napkin on it and keep it there. I know this because my friend has a 1998 WS6 Firebird. His is the same way, we tried it and it stuck to the pipe until he wrappped up the revs. Nothing comes out of the secont tailpipe until there is enough exhaust moving through it to use it on some exhaust systems. This was a factory set up too. Just thought some would like to know, but Im sure there are people that hang a second fart tip there just for looks, and thats f'n weak! My civic has a whole row of useless exhaust tips on it, I think like 9, the muffler shop said it adds like 40hp!!! JK!

my buddy's acura TL always has fumes comming out of both of his pipes when cold start up and no rev. when he revs it, equal amount of fumes come out both outlets.

i guess its just certain vehicles that lack craftsmanship and design of exhaust? or probably meant to work like that?

The saddest one I've seen is when a Honda has a Toyota Kanji decal slapped on.

Being Japanese, even my dad saw the mistake and we had a good laugh.
