Nice!! I once drove 461 miles on a single tank... I filled up to 12.6 gallons of gas, leaving me, I guess around less than a gallon..?

It was mostly highway, though.

I had one tank a couple years back that got me 480 highway miles before the idiot light came on. I probably could have gone another 30-40 miles but it was the middle of Kansas and I didn't want to run out of gas looking for another gas station.

2001 civic ex auto.

i get around 300 miles before the E light comes on. I fill up about 11 gallons most of the time. thats about 27 mpg.

This is MOSTLY city driving and PLUSSS the fact that i remote start my car everymorning and have it warmed up for about 15-20 minutes.

I think with less weight in the trunk and a new clean air filter i can probably boost up to around 32 mpg.

I get about 31-32mpg in the city. Once I got 41 on the highway. I went from Atlanta to Jacksonville on one tank! Then I had only 1000 miles. 03 EX 5 speed.

See if they have any moonshine I can run the car on until the next gas station. Or drink myself silly and pray to the porcelain goddess.

In civic's, yeah. The manuals have 5 gears which means the 5 gear can be far taller for fewwer RPMs per mile, hence less gas per milage. But Honda has doen a few things to compinsate, like different final drive gears. So in the city, auto make a bigger differnce than on the highway, highway autos are only a little worse becasue of the gear thing. But in the city, the car is contantly shifting, and that consumes more gas than a manual. Get an Accord like me, the autos have 5 gears

Not really. Dropping weight won't really do much either.

The best ways to stretch your fuel miles are:

1. Slow down. Stay under 70
2. Don't drive "spiritted"
3. Shift at lower and slower, I like about 3000rpms.

I did that for a gas tank, got 26MPG compared to driving a little more aggresive, not like an A$$hole, but more aggresive and I get 25 MPG, figured I for 1 MPG I will just drive however I want, never notice much difference in my civic either, would go from 32 to 34, not a big enough jump for to drive like granma.

I tend to agree. The one or two mpg hit is usually worth it to have some fun while driving, but I wonder about the people that shift at 5k and think that's normal driving.

I recently went on a road trip from NYC to Orlando and did 500 miles on a full tank of gas and there was still about 1/8th left on it.

Eh. I only average about 600 miles on a tank (13.2 gallons) in the city. A little better on the highway (650 miles or so). Mine shouldn't be used in this comparison, though.
A good tip is to raise the pressure in your tires. Don't go too high but a little more air will improve your mileage a little.
