Some Power?

What can I do to a 2001 Civic HX for some power....upgraded ECU? anything ? Cuz my buddy has a 96 civic w/ headers, exhaust, ecu, and intake...and that is quick...what can i do beyond exhaust and intake....cuz i already have that stuff. I need to get some power out of this thing.... Or atleast some acceleration...not looking to race...just be quick...

unfortunately dude, ur car was very much geared towards fuel efficiency.. not performance... (although, same goes for every other civic, but yours is definitely tuned for fuel efficiency...)

its hard to extract power outta an HX... it wasn't designed to speed from 0-60 in 7 sec. its designed to get to 60 in an average acceleration, but using as little gas as possible...

I duno, I suggest searching around other forms... I would think a reprogramming of the ECU of some aspect will do some good... ie: change the configuration of air fuel ratio or what not to make the car run more on the performance side... but u'll have to forgo your fuel efficient HX then...

also, from ur last post: a vtec controller can also change the air/fuel mix ratio... and it can also change the vtec engagement points.. though ur vtec is hardly geared towards performance... tunning a car with a vtec controller requires someone that knows what they're doing... and I dont think too many people have too many experience tunning our cars yet... let alone an HX.

my opinion is u should just keep ur car stock... why u buy an HX? its geared towards mileage, not performance.

I would drive it off a cliff and go get yourself an ex.... as far as your statement about turbo and nos, well we dont even have a turbo for our ex's yet so I really dont think your ever gonna get a turbo.... but good luck on the cliff diving though....

LOL turbo in the mega econo HX.... dude the 2k1 Civic is not meant to handle power..trade in for a better block such as a 6th gen B block or RSX or the new Si thats coming out...ITS CALLED DO RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY A CAR the EX isnt good at power either but its gonna go faster than an HX

Well said. The HX is just dressed up more than the LX & DX to sell it. That's why it comes w/ rims. You should have at least bought a DX. Remember that too many alterations will affect your emissions.

My two cents....SCREW EMISSIONS...after my warranty is up, all that crap will come off and be replaced.

Like the guy said earlier....cant i adjust the fuel air ratio so it becomes less economic and a litle more powerful ? That makes sense...Im not trying to race...Just have a little power...than im gonna go for looks ? And wont adjusting the throttle cable help me a bit? I atleast want some acceleration...Couldnt i do like spark plugs and wires and ignition(if i can find one)
