I am really close to buying a 2002 Honda Civic 2 door ex right, it has 30,000 miles on it and the dealership is asking $9250 for it, it has 2 12" rockford fosgate subs in the trunk with an amp hooked up to the stock headunit, its all good so far, i just have one question, it has been sitting at the dealership for 4 months and we took it for a test drive n it ran smooth and all but it has an intake with no filter on it, doesnt look like its a name brand intake or anything, it is bent like an AEM short ram intake, but it is just the tube, no filter, could that do much harm to the engine, like sucking dirt into it? if i get it, im going to put a filter on it right away, or get an AEM short ram intake, should i buy the car? should i just repaint the intake and get a new filter, or put out $120 for the AEM intake? please help

Well it should still be under Honda's 40,000 mile warranty. I would think that most people just shy away from modded cars, and it could be your chance to get a great deal. My car was cheaper than older civics WITH more miles and had been on the lot for weeks, and I felt scared that something might be wrong with it as well. However, a year later I havent had a single problem with it, and the only aftermarket things I discovered were a Sirius antenna, and aftermarket speakers. I can't comment on the intake question, but if they are still giving you the warranty then I wouldnt worry about it.
honda certified used cars usually come with a 7yr/100k mile warranty. the price seems VERY low for that car. i would take it to your own mechanic to have it checked out before buying it. as for the intake, yes, i think that could definately cause damage...not having an air filter. you can buy a K&N cone filter for it for pretty cheap. good luck.
