reverse grinding HELP!!!

can anyone tell me why my reverse grinds if i rev car up to 3k at neutral then shift to reverse? Ive had trhis expericence I just started my car up and revved a lil then put it on reverse while it was still in like 2k rpms. It grinded but went into gear. I had clutch in all the way. Is it bad to rev and put gear on reverse?

anycomments would be appreciated so I can clearly understand why it is bad to do that. It was my first time doing that.

4drcivic2k1 is an unknown quantity at this point
Because the mainshaft will still spin when you rev it up, even if the clutch is in. There is enough friction there to spin the shaft with no load. Put the car in a foward gear before you shift into reverse, as the foward gears have a syncro and the reverse does not. This stops the mainshaft and allows you to shift into reverse.

Good to know. Haven't grinded yet but for further usages I will remeber this.
