The reason why the little beeper is there is to remind you that you need to wear your seat belt. I know you think you may seem cool not wearing your seatbelt or whatever, but it really does protect you in the case of an accident. We had on kid die over by my house because he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, however the driver lived because he was. Man, don't be an idiot, WEAR YOUR DAMN SEATBELT!

I always habitually put mine on even when I go to my Fiances house, which is in the same complex, like 50 feet away. I always feel stupid because in the Miata its always such a pain in the *** to put on/take off, & spend like 30 secs wrestling with it, then im like WTF when I pull up & have to take it off...

you just need to make the latch think it has the seatbelt...go to a junk yard and chop off a latch and shove it in there...the beeper is in the gauge cluster, so there is no easy way to switch it off. you could also find the trigger wire under the seat and ground it. but i agree with es2guy...its called a reminder for a reason.
look under the driver seat there is a plug under there n unplug it n it will stop but the light will always be on... it pass inspection for me...n your air bag still works.... that pissed me off 2 cause i never wear my selt belt n it solved my problem

DIY:
- Get in car
- Start car
- Pull seatbelt latch across body, diagonally down towards right hip
- Plug latch into seatbelt buckle
There, no more beeping.
There is also a slightly more extreme DIY, not many people write about it cause they're unsure of the success but here it is:
- Get in car
- Start car
- Put car into gear and drive *note it is extremely important at this point that you NOT pull the seatbelt latch across your body, and definitely do NOT plug it into the buckle*
- Get on highway, drive normally
Within a few years you should either:
1) get into an accident, fly through your windshield, and die. There, no more beeping. More like a flatline if they even bother to hook you up to a machine
2) get into an accident, NOT fly through your windshield, and still die from getting smashed by a deploying airbag or simply crushing your ribcage with the steering wheel
3) Narrowly avoid accident by braking just in time, but still smash your face/chest up pretty good bouncing off the top of the dash, windshield, or steering wheel.
The reminder is there for a reason, and wearing your belt is the law for a reason.

Is that a challenge _Viper_? Don't make me give you a limp-wristed bitch slap! But if you're comin to the T-Dizzle at least bring your woman.
Sorry it came out kinda harsh but consider that my dad nearly died when he took a short trip down the street from his friend's house to ours, he rear-ended a cab and wasn't wearing a seatbelt - smashed his face into the steering wheel then bounced up into the windshield. When she nags me about the street racing she presumes I participate in, my mom still reminds me that the doctors were picking shards of glass out of his face for hours - obviously this was back when glasses were made of actual glass. I see the scars every time I look at him, and while he's not hideous, I'm sure it's a reminder for him and for all of us to be careful behind the wheel. Why didn't my dad wear his seatbelt? In the Philippines, at least back then, no one gave a damn about wearing them. Every time I'd been in the car with my dad back then, I wouldn't have worn it either, long trip OR short. But believe me, nowadays the first thing I do every time I get in my car is buckle the belt. Except if I'm just moving it into underground parking at my condo or positioning it for a picture at a meet...

You also realize that if you get pulled over or a cop see's you on the street without a seatbelt (no matter how slow you are going) you will still get a ticket for it.
BTW, if its just for a very short drive, why should the noise bother you? If its enough to bother you, I guess its not such a short drive after all.

Eh i know the importance of safety and all that, But i never wear my seatbelt for normal city driving. I DO HOWEVER, wear my seatbelt anytime i get on a highway or the like.
Anyway, i have a 2001 and dont ahve the beeping. But i have an idea for you. How about you just plug the seatbelt in before you sit in the car? Then just sit on top of the belts? I mean if your only driving for 5 mins to the WAWA, it shouldn't be that uncomfortable.

I wana hear this beeping i took off my seat belt going around the block but it wont' go off. lol but i felt so unsafe for that min. I think there is something wrong with mine but no light came on. I always wear my seat belt and if someone gets in my car and doesn't wear it and stop and wait for them to put it on. I love seat belts it saved my *** from my accident and i didn't have a scratch on me.

I think some of you are taking the entire seatbelt thing way too far up the butthole. If someone doesn't want to wear their seatbelt, thats their problem. If Im not mistaken, the original intention of this thread was to know how to turn off the seatbelt noise, not a grandfather lecture on why you should wear a seatbelt. Wearing a seatbelt is a personal choice, but yes it is also the law. But, if you think about it, the majority of you street race. Thus, lecturing someone on wearing your seatbelt to save your life completely makes a contradiction if you street race.
Just my 2 cents.

Way to lump just about everyone in with the street racing thing man. I typed as a guy who doesn't street race, and I don't advocate it in any way. So even if I follow your generalization, I'm still in a position to lecture. I don't care if he wears his seatbelt or not but I'm not about to post up how to disable this sound so more people can go ahead and turn their seatbelt warning sound off, thus making it seem like this site and its members are big fans of driving around with seatbelts off. My first post was MY two cents, this is another two. There, this site has four more pennies from me.

Ive seemed to of lumped myself to then because I street race. I personally don't see you in any position to lecture. But, you have all the right to give a personal opinion. You expressed your personal opinion and Im expressing mine. If you don't feel like posting up the DIY on how to take the beeping noise off then by all means don't do it. No one is forcing you to do it. Thrashing the guy because he doesn't want to wear his seatbelt is just a way of showing synocism. If people are gonna thrash other people for that then we all might as well thrash eachother for deadly, and illegal I might add things such as speeding, street racing, and stupid things like tinted windows. But, we all do it, so, showing a side of hypocracy isnt exactly the correct thing to do. For this message, Im gona go ahead and throw in a quarter. .27 for me homie.
Edit: And personally, if you feel like going ahead and starting an argument with me, then I can gladly accept a personal message. All were doing here is whoring the thread.
