funny cars
today i went to visit some family in modesto and on the freeway i saw a blue infiniti g35. From a distance it looked alright but then i saw the huge wing. Then as i got closer i saw the word skyline on the back......... I couldnt stop laughing. It had the stock exhaust and the only mod i saw was the wing and that emblem. Anyone from modesto or stockton seen this car? And why would anyone do this to a nice g35???? To top it off i also saw a poorly modded crx and a stock civic sedan with an sir sticker
I was in ricer heaven today

yes, you were in ricer heaven....
I guess he (g35) wanted to show how JDM he felt his car was.... but..... skyline emblem or not, the car is still fast and it's still nice.

You know the old skylines never shared the same engine nor the same chassis as the old Z's, so I see no reason why this should be considered a true skyline...regardless of what they're called in Japan. Maybe when the GT-R comes out, but in my opinion the G35X is the closest thing we have to ATTESSA here in the states. In skyline circles, the G35 is the ugly red head step child. It's more akin to be the "gentleman's Z" rather than a Skyline. Both the Z and the G35 have the VQ35 motors, where the old Skylines ricers everywhere worship had the RB26DETT. The G is not a skyline, I think Nissan just got lazy. They just rebadged a Z variant. Just my opinion though...
I will say however, that Skylines in general are NOT performance oriented cars. The GT-R, GT-T, GT-S, etc., yes, but in general the run of the mill skylines are your typical every day coupes and sedans.
I have a friend out here in Vegas who has a friend that drives a G35 coupe. The guy was getting on my nerves so bad...he had the skyline emblems on the back, had a very high pitched voice (my gf thought it was a girl talking), and was saying how he spent over $150 for the emblem kit. Not to mention he had a kind of snide attitude toward my 8. Makes me cringe...

In Japan the G35 is the Nissan Skyline 350GT. It is the platform of the R35 Skyline. Although it isnt the all-mighty GT-R, it still is a skyline non-the-less. It would be the equivilent of what the R34 GT-T or the R33 GTS was. Just a lesser version of the GT-R. I don't see anything wrong with the emblems. Just a on-going project.

Take a look at this: The old 300ZX also had a 4 seater and 2 seater design. Nissan just got lazy with the skyline, and named the 4 seater Z a Skyline IMO.
2 Seater:
4 Seater:
Differences are small I know, but I think the G35 and 350Z are just the continuation of this relationship.
