Clifford Remote Start
This thread is for whoever has an alarm in here.
I currently own the matrix alarm system and got it bypassed so it would work with remote start. Remote start is not made for manual, but can be bypass to work. Does anyone have a remote start alarm on a manual tranny? if so, what happend if you left car on gear and remote started the car?
thanks

It will go or just move and bog down besides that if you leave it in neutral and its touching the gear any bit its gonna be embarrassing when you try to look cool starting it and the gear grinds
with the clifford remote start for the manual trans.......you have to put your car in nuetral with the parking brake on, press a button on the remote, take the key out of the ignition, (the car stays running) shut the door, press another button on the remote, the alarm arms, doors lock, and car shuts off. now, it is ready to remote start. it's a safe system.

WTF are you talking about man. The only time I use remote start is in the morning when starting up my car from up stairs. I hate waiting for my engine to heat up
I dont use that **** to look cool bro, theres no point.
I was told, if the car is in gear, the car will not stop going til it hits something.
the whole "your car will keep going till it hits something while you're in gear" in my opinion is only if you DON'T have the parking brake on.
I've sat in my car with the parking brake on, and started the car IN GEAR (on accident) before, and the car bogged, and stalled and stopped. It didn't zoom off, or hit nething. I was parallel parked in the street with about 3 feet of space in front and behind my car, so it was not too spacy, but not too tight, and nothing happened. Remote start is the same principle as turning the key in the ignition, and if the parking brake is on and tight, i'm sure the car isn't gonna go newhere if u accidentally started it in gear.

With a Clifford Remote start (As is the same as a Python and Viper, since DEI owns them all) This is what will happen, the remote start system will try three times to start the car. If you have the parking brake up, the car will inch forward three seperate times and stop, if you dont have the parking brake up, and the car is in gear, the car will crank three seperate times, depending on the crank time on the alarm. Say the crank time is one second, the car will jerk forward the same as if you crank it by hand with the key for one second (You would somehow have to be able to crank the car, while it is still in gear, I.E. without pushing down the clutch). The real danger is that the car gains momentum everytime it cranks again, since it is moving faster then before, it can get up there if you're not careful.
And Hondasales knows the correct safe way to use the remote start on the stick shift, but most shops simply bypass the clutch pin, which allows the car to be started without pressing the clutch.
There are countless other threads about this on the boards, although the search function sucks, I would look through them a bit before making my decision.
BTW, I installed car audio/video/security products for 2 years, so I was doing these remote starts everyday, and I have some stories about people who remote started their car into other cars; including the guy who worked with me who managed to start his car into the boss' vintage MG.
