If you're going to run a turbo, I reccomend Royal Purple, explensive but the best I ever had as far durablity in a turbo civic I had, but any full synthetic is good

This means the crank has to go through the oil, you can relate this to waving your hand in air and then putting it in water and doing the same thing, it will be harder to move your hand in the water, right? Now put your hand in the crisco do move it around, it's going to be really hard right? Well the thick the oil becomes, the hard the crank has to push to go through the oil, hence the less power that get to you tires and the worse MPG you get. I know that 5w-20 and 10w-30 don't seem to make a big difference, but remeber 1. that your crank is hitting this oil at 2,000-7,000 time a second and 2. that the properties of oil change the harder you hit it (it called historiesis).
i agree with everything except 2000-7000 times a second, rpms revolutions per minute, so if you do the math its 2000-7000/60 so 34-117 times a second

I heard that you should wait until your engine has at least 10,000 miles on it before switching to synthetic. Any comments?

wait till your fisrt oil change is up, about 3,000 miles or so, I've never heard a viable reason why you should wait, I think it just myth and turned my civic over to sythetic after 3,000 miles, and had no problems

To those of you who have Honda change ya oil and use synthetic oil, are you simply providing them with the oil and asking them to use it when they do the oil change?

you can, but you might as well bring it to a better shop than just Honda. I guess thats just me but if you request to use different motor oil in your engine and have it changed by Honda, you can do that as long the oil is the correct application (high mileage varies). but expect to pay nearly the same amount if they provided the oil. so if ur paying honda $30 for an oil change with provided oil and labor, it'll be around 20 or so I THINK

Mobil 1 0w-20, ever since after the stock oil was changed out. Its good stuff, I change it at about every 5-6k, always comes out same color it went in. Also, I use a Purolator PureONE oil filter. Oh, and the 4 quarts of oil and filter cost me $10 plus tax at wal mart...gotta love the price matching.

You guys should check this out:
