There's quite a few people who have done this already. I read that it wasn't too difficult to do.

I too would like to do this. All you need is to find EL brakes or Si brakes, but you have to make sure of the year because the newer Si's changed to a 5-lug pattern. Good luck with that.

besides for the looks, there is no real benefit of replacing the rear drums

70% of the braking is done by the front end of the car. The brakes will lock up before the tires do, so u need better tires to stop. u don't need to worry about brake fades in the back.

many people with crx autoX and road race with drums without a problem

i'm pretty sure that u'll get worse braking with the disks in the back since the master cylinder and proportioning would be off

Many of the people autocrossing with CRX's actually found that the car was slower after they swaped to Rear disks.... something about the disks that fit weighing signifigantly more then the drum setup.

umm, yea... you guys haven't researched this too good...

the rear brakes actually are lighter than the drums when swapped on the 7thgen. there is better braking, we already found out the proportiat valve is the same part on ELs. and it does help the braking on our cars.... and it has been done and talked about to death.

so...
