I'd get the Impreza 2.5RS. It's got a phenomenol AWD system, a stronger car, a lot more torque, and can be turbocharged through aftermarket parts. I know someone who has the previous generation Impreza 2.5RS and turbocharged it to 300hp+.

I almost bought a Impreza last year, and I must say that it is a much stronger build (probably from rally heritage) than Honda/Acura. Our family currently has a Subaru with AWD right now, and the thing is phenomenol... you cannot make the wheels slip.

There is an article in SCC a couple of months ago about the Subaru with aftermarket turbos on it and some other simple stuff that was doing 0-60 in the 4's and the qm in the 12.s.

That depends on how much money you have after you buy the car...Honda/Acura has more aftermarket stuff here in the US while you can get many parts for the Subaru from Japan which would be a lot more expensive. I would go for the GS-R because it has more power to start with.

If it's a WRX get the subaru....if not get the GSR. I ahve a friend that has a GSR...turbo and motorwork done. Best quarter mile time so far is an 11.9...so they definitely have potential.

no 2.5rs, nono baby, those thing are not fast, unless u turbo it, 5spd 2.5rs is just faster than our Si(Ex) by a very very very little bit, stock vs stock its slower than the SiR(SI), but the AWD system is great very good handling, but its too good that its potential is not fully use, i mean the base 2.5rs engine is not good enough for the AWD, turbo it and u'll be super, if u r not gonna go turbo, got for gsr, its much faster than 2.5 rs with same upgrade

get the 2.5 rs, you won't go wrong, The GS-R is too played out, I'm personally a rally fan and I love the way the 2.5 rs looks, not the WRX. GS-R looks fisheyed and too many people have it, pluz, it looks like the other model integras like type-r and the standard. Not everyone can get a 2.5 rs and you can deck that baby out like what. AWD all the way

GSR...all Subarus are ugly as hell inside and out, just make sure you give your GSR some style with a kit, etc so it dosnt look like all the other ones rolling around

if only i had another 2k in january of last year... i'd be driving a black 01 RS 5-spd coupe right now...

but yeah, go for the RS, tons of torque, AWD, better looks (IMO), and an INCREDIBLE exhaust note that you can only get with a boxer enigne.. and with intake, exhaust, and an S-AFC (all under $1000 at the most), you'll be kicking the a$$ of every goddamn riceboy on this entire site, even those who are spraying. hehe

dude, unless ur getting the wrx then go for the GSR there is more after market support
so if u want to go fast go with the gsr.
its gotz lots of used parts <---easy on ur wallet
its better to turbo<----a big plus over the type R
the impreza is alright but its still a SOHC u want to do a DOHC, and its all wheel drive that means that its got to put all the power into all of its 4 wheelz. not really worth it.
plus the gsr is very nice and clean cut car. get a black one it will look so sweet over the silver which is so so!!

well, its up to you, the new 2.5rs looks ugly, if u go for impreza, go for the older model, but im telling, unless u get turbo, gsr is faster than the impreza in anyways, turbo is better on the SOHC than DOHC, but for all the bolt on, or even N/A the car, the gsr is much better, even stock, the gsr is much faster than the RS, again SiR(Si) beats RS in both 0-60mph and 1/4, and gsr is faster than SiR(Si)
