after years, i finally see the light..

the import scene is going to crap.. more and more companies selling pure ****.. and people love the ****.

people that pay for quality things... just get peace of mind whereas people that buy total crap win shows and etc. i know alot of people personally that just throw $$$$$ into their car buying every little peice of crap they can and people are like wow... no offense.. but people riding oem w/ lambo doors getting more oohs and ahhs then a person that has a clean tricked out ride. im sorry but.. i look at something and think of logistics... when i take my girl ona date i know shed rather sit in nice corinthian leather and have a regular door (with a handle) than to have to have a popper on a lambo door she cant really push up in heels and have to sit ina racingseat that crimps her skirt and harnesses that mess up her hair.. im just saying we doo all this .. to look cool and none of which is practical. now i know what people say everything is for looks and etc.. and i agree.. i see seats as nice.. recaro's and bride omfg.. but then people buy these DAD seats and Apr and their just crap.. if they ever got ina wreck the seat thats designed to "be race safe" isgonna eject them off of the frame out into the street. and these harnesses that "import joe" installed incorrectly arent gonna do ****.. or are gonna snap his neck like a twig because harnesses are designed for race cars w/ head restraints.. real seat belts allwo movement.. because the longer u allow a force to calm the less the force(simplified physics)

now im bascially saying we as civic owners have become sheep.. forced and encouranged to buy peices of slow crap and turn them into these cool cars.. while we are everyday becoming steriotyped as ricers.. which we are no matter what we say. maybe its because we cant afford nicer cars idk..

now im not saying everything is crap..

Hawk's car--very clean and quick, not overdone... done to race and does whats its for..

danscreations not to sound conceded but i feel that dan and i have the CLEANEST civic's on the site.. i myself a big lover of big rims(people say ohhh rotational mass but learn physics and measure the distances and weight the masses and you'll find that the rotational mass of a lightweight 19" is very simlar to a 15/16), and i love the look of being slammed not just for looks but driveability.. id rather have my car 5/8" off the ground than oem suspension.. people that buy springs are just being too cheap when they should really save up and do it right.. true coilovers or ajust a nice setup will show u why people started lowering cars to begin with.. im just saying i dropped 3.5F and 3.25R and my car rides like my dad's old lexus.. very firm responsive yet nice and COMFORTABLE. lowering your car on some neuspeed race and blowing ur shocks makes your handing WORSE THAN OEM.. causing too much movement and radical angles is not good.

being cheap on wheels and buying cheap tires is not good.. wheels/tires are the only thing on ur car that actualy touch the road and are by far the most import cheap wheels=break easily and just look bad, and cheap tires.... people say brakes..matter but w/o good tires it wouldnt matter if u had 6 piston brembo's... tires are what make u stop..

engine mods.. i respect people for having nice engines.. futurerswswap.. and the kid w/ the ugly bklue civic w/ k20a.. but truely you do allll this work and its not even 110% reliable.. think back to why ur broke *** bought a civic.. to drive it.. not to ruin it..

brakes.. dont even get me started on the crossdrilled and slotted ness ona light civic ... taking surface area off ur rotors decreases stopping power.. we dont have overheating problems unless ur a auto x'er

now im not going off on everyone just the mass of people... ive named people above but theirs soo many more people.

we as a scene need assistance, dont gimme oh riley your a baller... ive just tried to make my civic nice and comfortable which it is and which its going to be until i graduate.. and i put a nice big down payment on a house and then can get my bimmer//mercedes... if u need assistance help is only a PM away... if u say ur broke and cant afford wheels.. i will sert u up on a payment plan and give u wheels at cost if ur honestly trying to make an attempt to get away from cheap substitues.


im sorry i just had to.. when i go to import meets and im approached by ricers telling me to mold my bumpers.. im thinking these kids are gonna ruin their "investments" u lose sooo much $ when u do that stuff..its rediculous they work at taco bell 50hours a week and spend an overall amount of 15k on a car thats worth 2k in tghelongrun and in the meantime looks like crap..


my name is riley, and this is my STEP to try and free the civic nation from resorting to crap... i stand by my civic AND SHE IS SLOW but shes comfortable and reliable, and handles amazing...


in closing remember its not all about speed... speed is good 0-60 1/4mile on a track but rememeber when u see cars racing the FASTEST one normally does not win... its the one w/ the best of all worlds.. the best handling/braking/tires/etc.. which most of the time is slow..

ive seen a k20 civic win a race against a mercialago/ferrari/porsche/ in japan.. why.. because its gas mileage allowed it not to stop as often. its light weight made it more agile and its handling allowed it to better itself all across the board.. so im not dissing civic's they can be amazing .. but WHEN DONE CORRECTLY.

i like my non-reliable car...right now, its what im into. I've always like having fast cars, ive always liked having something different and out of the norm. So many people buy lambos, ferraris, STi's, evos just because they're fast....i take a slow 30+mpg car and push 200+whp out of it while retaining close to similar mpg....i like finese and fine tuning...and like you i like clean cars...i say go with hubcaps and a strong motor. Thats what i like "Sleeppperrrrssss" Nothing says "Hot Damn" like being fast

being fast is a fact....looking good is an opinion...peoples opinions dont mean **** to me, and MY car

I rather spend my $$ on something i enjoy that makes me happy...rather than drugs and alcohol...or sleezy women hehe

I can understand where your coming from and this is one reason why ive stuck to keeping my mods clean and never overdone. She gets overlooked more often this way but i love the way my car looks and thats all that matters to me.

it shouldnt matter what others do to thier cars because its their car..... your car might seem rice to someone but to someone else it might seem great. in the end, its all how you want to fix up YOUR car and no one elses.

you're right about a lot of peopel being sheep when it comes to modding. these people are the ones who dont know exactly what THEY want from their car... they just try to fix it up with what is in a trend right now and usually change their styles when the trend ends.

i will also have a slow *** civic that is tended to look nice. i never plan to make my car fast... i will stick with show as long as i have the vic.

i completely see where u are coming from here. And it would be cool to have our 7thgens recognized as the nicest gen ever made, but that means changing ppls mind that you dont agree with. it isnt going to happen. i like a clean car, thats why you dont see a gotti body kit or huge wing on my car. But there are ppl that have it and its their car and they are not gona change it because you dont like it. Now dont get me wrong here, i agree with you but good luck getting rid of all the 'pos' wheels and tires or whatever else is out there.

ima keep my civivc for 3 more years and keep her slow as can be.. because.. it doesnt matter how fast i get to 60.. what matters to me is onceim there i can out maneuver you as u have to apply brakes because ur susp sucks(you as in other cars)

i agree with the "doing it the right way" part. i regret buying springs and not fullcoilovers or shocks. everyday, i always got to worry about my **** blowing or running over a dip/pothole. problem was that i didnt even know how weak my shocks were on my civic until i visited this site. everyone i knew didnt give a rats *** about shocks so i stepped in their situation and thought shocks were "uneccesary" for all vehicles.



btw great post, i wish all car tuners could hear ya words and understand how things should be done the right way

i hear ya...that's why i'm choosing my parts carefully and thinking about what i want out of my car not anyone else. I loved when fast and furious came out but i very quickly realized they are clueless in that movie and paul walker is really in love with vin diesel. same goes for NFS underground, mainstream game with ridiculous parts. this is just making more ricers out there. then again people can do whatever they want to their car. there paying for it not me. that's what forums and internet are for. people can learn the right way before they *** up there ride. It only makes it better if you do it correctly like riley says. It makes the car handle better and keeps it under control with a little more ease.

Hey riley......as far as suspension goes, I did springs, front strut tower brace, and rear lower tie bar. If I did some better shocks (I kept OEM) will this improve the ride even more? During the summer I run 17X7 Konig Holes with Cooper Zeon shoes. I'd like to fine tune the suspension a little better this spring.

yes, get new shocks please. It will help. Any suspension questions, put them in the suspension forum. There is a big shock thread in there and a FAQ that is worth reading.

YES SIR!! Ok then. The import scene is fine. The hot rod scene is fine. The lowrider scene is fine. Why? Because that's exactly what they are: A SCENE!! A single scene in a never ending movie about cars. Some people like to be seen and others like to be seen, but seen blurry by driving fast. Yes there are alot of crappy vehicles out there but so what. There are also alot of good quality vehicles.

Now how do I actually feel? I pretty much feel the same way as riley. People need to be careful about what they do to there cars because they may look good with that hot chick sitting next to you in your cheap a$$ racing seat, but what happens to that pretty little face of hers when it hits the windshield because your dumb seats and fake 5-points fail? Just a thought.

riley, I do think you have one of the cleanenst looking 7ths on the site. I also have a four door white Vic and I would love for mine to look like yours.

lowers the center of weight in the car... the engine is y far he heaviest part but when u lower the center of weight in comparison to the center of the wheels you get better handing.. its kinda complicated buti summed it up.

everyone knows rota's are cheap knock off's but i guess there light and good when your on a tight budget. people usually get them as their first set of rims. BTW rijowysock your car is clean but white makes it super clean.

I forgot to add it's companies like DH racing that are giving the scene a bad name. Poor products just for quick cash . I think most of the 7thgen aftermarket parts are a little dissapointing.

The JDM look was never part of the equation when I got my rotas.... I got mine because they are
1. Light 11.8 LBS
2. Strong (They stand up to racing stress quite well)
3. Cheep @ $100 each.




rijowysock has a few good points.. Problem is that its becoming harder and harder for people who are actually looking for qualtiy and usefull parts to find those parts. Simply because many of the "Reputible" tuning companys sell just as much junk and worthless parts as companys Like APC do... and for those who havent spent the time to sort through it all may end up buying something that they have no use for just because it has the name Spoon or Mugen.... (Big brake kits come to mind)

I hear ya rijowysock, i've got a sedan too and i at first was all about stuffing my car with ****, now, i hate it and have changed so much to keep it clean and practical, my ex actually hurt hurt back getting out of my damn car cuz of my racing seats, so i said that was that, back to stock seats, wrap them in Katzkin leather like i have the door panels and the rear seats. No more emblems, and no more xenon either, just nice mugen lip and jdm sides and trying to find a nice rear to go with my Acura EL tail light conversion i did, yes, i am the first to do it, wooo hoo. But anyways, i feel ya bro, lambo doors get all the attention, and a nice clean, complete car gets to sit back and watch the other guy get everything. 4 doors rule btw, lol.
