Have people lost their nerve?
Maybe it's just this state. I don't know. When I get racing somebody on the highway, (it doesn't matter whether it's a crappy rustang or just some twerp in an auto civic that thinks he knows how to drive) when I hit 100, it's all over. BAM. They're lost in my rearview mirror. Sure, I understand that people are scared of cops and such, but I just got off a suspended license and I still regularly break the speed limit by 55+. Is it just me or have people lost their nerve?
Nerve? No they havn't lost it. They're just being something called RESPONSIBLE. You've already pretty much managed to prove that you aren't due to your suspended license and driving like a tool after getting it back. Godd job tough guy.

maybe you mean people are getting smarter. racing on the freeway is putting innocent lives at risk. and that's not something you should be messing with. take it to the track man.
So everybody is shitting that racing on streets is dangerous.
WTF do you tune your cars?? Putting turbos on it , swaping engines???
For saying I have 200 whp, and I'm driving like granny?
No for being faster than someone else = racing

True, tracks are far and few between and it sucks. I think we would all agree on that one. But, your statement about people losing their nerve is wrong. Anyone being in the import-hotrod-car community for some time has seen or heard about their fare share of stories dealing with the law, accidents, or even death. Just use cation and remember that other people share the road out there.

they need to make a 5 mile long track with curves and long straights like a highway. id be there every day, otherwise i do it on the highway, but not during the day/evening, only at night when its like me and 5 other cars in sight lol. but i dont do it to kick someones ***, my lx auto doesnt do a very good job of it, but its just fun.

Being able to go 100 on the freeway is nothing man and anyone on here will tell you that the track is where you should do it. BTW I race on the streets too but dont be so general in that an auto civic will back out cuz I can gaurantee (sp?) that I wouldnt stop til you did. Im starting to realize tho that driving on the freeway at high speeds isnt to grand of an idea cuz my friend just flipped his eclipse (fully caged). Just dont call out auto's when you probably shouldnt even have your license Yes, it's an Acura EL

I never lost my nerve, I just decided I would rather NOT die or pay outrageous insurance fees after getting busted driving like a moron. And the fact that you're still breaking the law and seemingly proud of it even after getting your license suspended makes me wonder how long you're going to be behind the wheel before you get yourself suspended again (at best) or killed (at worst). There's a reason for speed limits. Please respect the lives of everyone else on the road.

true story:
this kid was street racing, going over 100 mph. he lost control of his car and rearended another car. the driver of the car he hit was his mother who died in the accident.
the moral of the story:
your life isn't the only life that is at risk when you race.
and what the hell are you trying to prove by going 100 mph on the freeway? it's fun to drive fast, thats a given. i'm an aggressive driver, but i don't feel the need to drive that fast on a freeway. any idiot can do that. find a race track and show off there. driver skill is involved on tracks, not on straight line freeways.

another true story:
Recently in San Antonio a kid was street racing lost control and hit a Ford Taurus with a newly married couple in it and killed them, he was also hospitalized and when he get's out is being charged with man slaughter.
If you don't care about other people fine... but i'm sure you don't want to go to jail

true story:
in miami, fl there were two people racing, a red camaro and a white eclipse, they were going over a 100 mph and the camaro lost control around a bend in the road and slammed in a tree. The fron wheels was touching the rear wheels. 3 people dies, The driver, his girlfriend, and the driver's little brother. Now the other racer is facing charges.
dont race. i admit that i race too but not often and not at those speeds.

being smart and responsible on the road is what real drivers are all about. unlike you, you are a dumbass moron who bitch why people aren't so stupid like you.
if you have conscience, can you put up the guilt of knowing you killed somebody and by killing that person, someone has to suffer for the loss of their loved ones. you cannot replace LIFE man, so if your doing something as stupid as this again, just make sure you kill yourself alone.

i lost my license driving 23 over the speedlimit. i wasnt racing though. and i learned my lesson, i drive the speedlimit now.
now you, you are a dumbass. a life isnt worth the risk. either find a track, or work with the local govt or someone to make it possible to have a safe place to race. im not sure if its this board or another one, but i remember someone saying out in san diego they have races that the cops monitor in the parking lot of the football stadium.
be responsible and it will work out better in the end.

not to play devil's advocate here, but we all know the dangers of street racing. you're beating a dead horse, and whether you like it or not, people are going to race on the streets. call them idiots or stupid or whatever else you'd like. we could start a whole bunch of threads on things that people do but shouldn't. drinking and driving, smoking pot, taking ecstasy, etc, etc.
people are going to race on the streets whether you preach to the choir or not. i do think this guy's asking for it by wondering why some people won't race beyond 100. me personally... i've done 163 ONCE and won't ever do it again. granted it was an empty freeway. but i do race people on the street. though i try to use my head so to speak.
another true story:
you are more likely to die in an accident if you are in a collision and going under the speed limit on the freeway than going over.
a major cause of many fatal crashes are people going too slow and not flowing with the speed of traffic.

Whoa, where did you come from? I thought you were in the Bermuda Triangle!! Anyway, that is true, but that doesn't mean those people are street racing on the highway.

Okay okay. I got a little carried away. Let me clear a few things up.
-First, I got my license suspended for doing 73 in a 55. Not for racing.
-Second, when I do race, it's late at night and I probably don't see more than two cars on the road. I know that doesn't make it right, but if somebody challenges you, are you gonna step off or step up?
-And finally, my apologies for bashing autos, but if you take two cars, one with a 5-speed, and one with an auto. Tune them the same, and which puts more power to the ground? The results speak for themselves.
-Oh yeah. Since I got my license back, I haven't even broke 80. So I guess I did learn my lesson. But that still won't stop me if a challenge is brought forth.
