Well, its a vast improvement over the cavilier thats for sure. No clue what they were thinking on the interier though, that woodgrain looks terrible.

Anybody else seen the car in person? What are your thoughts? Anyone heard how much of the car is based on the cavalier? The cavalier has been riding on the same platform for like 15 years. I hope they started from the ground up on this one, but being its GM, I have my doubts.

^ I believe they're using the Ion / insert-every-other-new-GM-compact-here platform.

Sorry but the Cobalt is not based on the Cavalier. It is based on the Delta Platform. Same as previous Opel Astra. The Ion used the delta platform as well.

I can't believe they're keeping that rear design. Unbelievable. We had a 97 cavalier and the ride/handling was crap. Stiff, but crap. Even VW is supposed to finally get rear indepedent for 06'.

From the side it looks very similiar to mazda 3. So basically it has a little civic, 3, TC, and probably a little corolla in there too.

Not a bad car, but again yes its goin to contend with the "ricer" scene. When I was car shopping I was SO close to getting a Mazda Protoge Mazdaspeed, however, ended up with the EL
