chevy contender?

Just want to know what people think of the new Chevy cobalt? Think it will be a worthy opponent of the next generation vic? I find myself interested even though I know I shouldn't be lured by the domestic devil.

i don't descriminate against a car simply because it's domestic or imported. a good freaking car is just a good freaking car. look at the new srt4 or the 05 mustang. you would have to be a stupid fool not to like a good vehicle just because of where it's made.

Werd. I haven't seen any Cobalts out on the road yet. As for the mustangs and SRT's. They are ok, but they still lack the refinement of many japanese or european vehicles. Have you ever experienced a dodge, or a ford? They feel cheap, reliablity is **** and they just plain suck. They may be fast, but thats about it. I also find it interesting that the big 3 US automakers are all financially unstable. If it wasn't for SUV's the US automakers would be screwed. I must admit, they make good trucks and ok SUV's, but they still don't uderstand how to make a car. They continue to recycle and rebadge until they are forced to redesign because their rebates and cash back aren't working anymore.

^ No, if you look at the numbers, reliability is pretty much equal all around now adays. Do not turn this into the one millionth import vs domestic thread.

it looks like a fairly high quality vehicle, and the ecotec engine has potential. I just hope its a solid car and they didn't put too much money into fluff features to "attract younger buyers"

I saw one on a promotion Display before I left for Iraq . I was quite impressed with the quality of the car and the layout . It is in my opion a notch above the Civic in terms of features and quality . I probably will purchase one for my wife in the near future .

The SS i like and would take over my vic. But the reagular cobalt is way gayer. Then agian the SS cobalt start at 21k and the regular one start at around 14.5. so everyone shows the SS coupe which is nicer than the civic imo, but if you go with the standard one that actaully competes with the civic with same price range, then the civic is the better of the two.

My #1 problem with it.... Because its based on the caviler... it shares the same rear suspension....torsion beam semi-independent..... Handling wise that was the Cavaliers and now the Colbalts achiles heel.

The sedan looks horrible... It still looks like a Cav to me. The coupe however is very sharp looking and is probably where they spent most of their money.
