Thinking about getting a new car soon...
Hey everyone. As you can see by the title, I'm thinking about getting a new car fairly soon. I'm not sure what I should get, though. I'm looking at spending around $30k. I know that I want the car to have *some* power, but it doesn't have to be all super-powerful, or anything like that. I would also like it to have a decent ride, as I've grown extremely weary of the ride quality of the Civic. Also, it's got to have an Automatic. Preferably a 5-speed. Sorry, I just don't want a manual, lol. I probably won't mod it much, if any at all, so that won't really play any key role in deciding on the vehicle. And please, nothing that's a 4-cylinder, or turbocharged. I want torque, but I don't want to deal with the insurance of a turbocharged vehicle. Oh, and it doesn't have to be brand-new. If I was able to find one for a fairly reasonable price at a used car lot, that'd be great. I just don't want to go through a private party sale.
Thanks in advance, everyone.

As far as body styles go, it doesn't have to be a sedan. It can be a coupe. I just don't need anything overly fast, and I don't want a manual... as previously stated.
I didn't mean for it to sound like I want an SUV, becaus that is as far from the truth as possible. I hate SUVs.
Also, I think a Corvette is out of the question. A 'bit too quick, powerful, etc. Insurance on one of those would kill me. As much as I would absolutely LOVE to have a 'Vette, it just ain't gonna happen.
For the most part, very good ideas so far. Anyone else have any others? The G35 Sedan and Coupe are both very nice. I don't know about the Maxima or TL or anything like that... I'd have to look into it more. Any other relatively affordable cars that are rear-wheel drive?
Thanks for everyone's help so far.

Check out the automatic RX-8...it's got 197 hp...tiptronic auto...very compliant ride, while still handling like a sports car should. Check it out...autos can be had for around 25,000.
Rear-wheel drive? ....hmmm... I suggest you get the G35 (either the sedan or the coupe)...They're both nice to look at, PLUS they're quick and powerful enough for any car enthousiast! Especially the coupe...it is SWEET!

Well, it looks like I may go off in the G35 direction, then. The new Chrysler 300 is very nice, as is the new Crossfire, but I would want the new 300 in the hemi version, and I believe that would be a 'bit too expensive. I'll look into it, though. As for the Crossfire... test drove it. Very nice car. Not exactly very practical, though, lol. I went and looked at the RX-8's, drove one, an automatic actually... I'm not sure about it. The suspension, handling, ride quality, etc. were all great, but the powerband was kind of lacking... especially in the torque deparment. I think I may go with a G35 sedan or something. We'll see...
Thanks for all the replies, everyone!

how about a pre-owned lexus IS300. Can pick up a 2002-03 for around $25-30k. reliable, quick, and nice. and its RWD like you wanted. thats pretty much what i decided my next car is come this spring, or a pre-owned 3-series coupe.
