Blubttrfly has the auto wrx and likes it alot. I'm sure it's a nice car being subaru, and you could always upgrade mods to make it faster. It won't be like the civic.

if you were going to get the WRX in automatic with plans of modding it, I would say not to get one. Being a car salesman, trade ins that are automatic pull better numbers than stick... so if you mod the car, you are killing that future advantage. If you are looking for a fun car that is also practical, the WRX is a fine choice. Modding it will kill its value. I will suggest stick for the fun factor - but you seem pretty bent on foregoing it. May I also suggest a TSX. I sell Acuras, and I must say even in automatic, the car puts a smile on my face. Plus, you know Honda/Acura's way of doing things already.
IMPULSE, I can help you with the financials end of it with everything you need to know, just send me your email address. You have a lot of missing information to figure the payment like APR, is the Civic paid off, how much are you putting down, etc. I have an excel spreadsheet that I've created to help fill in the blanks of dealer's best gimmicks. First hint.....never bargain off of the monthly payment, you will make the salesman, finance guy, and banks a lot of money that way. I also have a word document that will let you know about the whole process. Also visit www.carbuyingtips.com for some good information.
I like the WRX, it's my dream car that I'll have to wait on because the wife and kids come first (wifey drives a 03 expedition, I drive the 03 Civic). However, I don't think the WRX is much bigger than your 2dr Civic. Think about it for awhile, cars are usually impulse buys, and about 20% have buyer's remorse. If you don't have a payment right now, think about how much money you can save for the 60 months you finance it. Be wise and patient my young brother.

thats my plan. I haven't molested my car enough to keep it from being a daily driver, and I'm planning to go back to stock even more because I am sick of dodging potholes on the way to school. If everything goes well, I might keep the vic till its ko'd. But I am looking to get a bike for that need for speed thing some of us have...
But if you want the wrx, thats a good choice too. Upgrading a bunch from the civic
