evos really arent that much of a straight line car though. they are rally cars, and damn fine ones after the changes they are making to the newest version this coming year!!!
4G63 swaps are fairly cheap and that car is obviously cheap. I don't imagine he put very much into it, it's just fast by nature. Put them on a road course, and he won't be able to use all of that power, and the winner would be the EVO hands down.

That's so funny, because at the track this weekend here in chicago I saw the same thing, but I don't recall what the Mirage ran, but it was disgusting. Along with a TURBO duster. You heard right, a 13sec TURBO DUSTER.
Where do people toss their money these days, tisk tisk.

well i love evo's either way, rally car or drag car. the only problem is that awd hasnt always lent itself to the best 1/4 mile times after 60'.

I have an Evo 8. That mirage would have beat me on that highway, but I know I can get through 3rd and 4th faster than that Evo did. Either way... FWD, less weight, same motor, larger turbo (16g vs 20g) vs an awd, heavier, same motor smaller turbo on the highway just spells disaster lol...
I'd show that thing what was up on some real tracks. Bet I'd smoke it in the quarter too haha. Sorry to hijack the thread. Props to the mirage, but if it's not higher speeds and straight, there's no point to racing with that thing. My 2 cents.

everyone knows i want an evo, after seeing this, only 3 words came to my mind.
W.. T... F?!?!?!?
Makes me wonder if an Evo can beat a FD or FC (mazda rx-7), or an RX-8

Only a heavily modified FCII turbo can beat an EVO. They were fast for their time, but no way it can beat an EVO without some work. FCII turbos run about the same times as the RX-8. 1/4 in the high 14's, low 15's, 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds. I can show you the resources if you need them, but just take my word for it.
Straight line, the FD3S vs an EVO both stock would be a pretty close race. The FD was an all aluminum body and extremely light. 255 hp TT monster stock, and let's not even get into modded. Theoretically speaking, the FD was RWD and it has a less parasitic drivetrain than an AWD setup that the EVO has. From a roll, the winner would be obvious. From a dig, I think the EVO would get a jump start, but the FD would likely catch up.
Get on a road course, and I think that it really comes down to driver when considering the FD or RX-8 vs EVO. The RX-8, despite being heavier than the FD, has been sited by several sources as being able to outhandle the mighty FD3S. I could really get into it, but that would be WAAAAY off topic.
