i dont know if this is old news or not...

No Celica or MR-S 2005

Toyota USA officially announced that the Celica & MR-S will no longer be imported to the US for the 2005 model year. Replacing the Celica in the Toyota lineup is the Scion Tc ("Toyota celica"?). I guess, Toyota US feel that they have no room for sporty coupes anymore.

No word on overseas changes.

I still dont feel that shuold be the case. Unfortunately, the Celica was deemed a girls car... but that car can perform very well..... and the tC.... well, heavy and big. It's as long as a Civic sedan and weighs over 500lbs more.
I dont think Toyota in the US will be known as a "sporty car" company anymore.... but can you imagine? Scion Supra???!!

Since we don't get the Scion in Canada, the Celica is still available for the 2005 model year.

I think that the Celica and MR2 has reached its limits, theres nothing more that they can do to perfect it. Just like the Prelude, Integra, ect..

1) After cutting the MR2 Turbo, the MR2 was never considered a performace car.

2) They are retarded to cut the celica. The GTS was the only contribution they had to the sports coupe market. Toyota should ask themselves this, can the Tc compete with the RSX-S? GTI? Sentra SE-R? The Tc has a good bit of power but its just too damn heavy.

the Tc wuold never be able to keep up with an RSX-S, but I think the target may be more base RSX, Civic Si, kind of consumer.

The MR2 might not be as hardcore as it used to be.... but it's still a good car. I dont know if anyone has ever seen the MR2 with a 2ZZ engine in it... but when you do something like that, it's a great combo decent power, rear drive, good handling and braking... oh wait, didnt Lotus just use a 2ZZ in the Elise?? = O
heehee....

the GTS with the action package is the only decent celica that a guy could drive IMO. GTS was nice, bodykit and HIDS standard. true that celica became a chick car, very sad.
as far as scion TC replacing celica. its alright, i would give it a chance and let it do its thing. its a fairly new car, so everyone is pretty much not used to it. give TC time we will see it progress and pick up the pace quickly. car got lots of potential. hey ugly ducklings can turn into a sexy swan too u know.

This is news to me. Both cars don't really do anything for me so I don't really care. I have always thought that the Celica's were ugly since they were first released. I have yet to see an MR2 on the road up here.

I don't understand how anybody could call a mid engined, rwd car gay? Especially people in Front engined, FWD cars. Have you driven one? Very worthy track cars. Great balanced weight ratio, and nobody else except for exotic marques (lotus, ferrari, and lamborghini to name a few) offered this setup. You guys are all smokin some crack.
